I'm not joking. I'm online right now as xChemicalSoulx (Account I was using while my real gamertag Corrupted) on COD4's Matchmaking - I read about this at GAF, and couldn't resist seeing for myself.

The Thread.
WHAT IS GOING ON MICROSOFT?!
[Edit]
And yes, I'd already used this accounts free month. If you want me to capture it on my videocard I ****ing will.
Is there a free promo weekend going on nobody was told about or something? This is really freakin' me out.
i used my free month a while ago and its still going i think, they might charge you later on for the month that youu used, that's what I read when i first hooked up my live.
Something really weird is going on man...
[Edit]
There was a HOLE here. It's gone now.
Above video removed as the mystery has been solved! Apparently there was a promotional weekend going on and all silver users could log in without fees - and yet nobody was told about it.
Not even Major Nelson.
So Microsoft did screw up, just in an entirely different way.
Live is screwed up right now. Microsoft really needs to start working things out. :/
Also, some companies give silver members the weekend free to promote their game.
*gets silver*
Haha. I hope they don't fix this soon. I want to play for free!
The internet is telling me that apparently it's another one of those special promotion weekends; minus the promotion!
Somebody dropped the ball and forgot to mention it was being sponsored by the U.S. Army.
Remember this while you go die in a virtual country where nobody likes you - the reality is only a phone call away!
...Still, so very fishy.

Get down into the loft and call 911. Like all American emergencies...
