I was wondering if the Nvidia 8600 was any good? It's being sold relatively cheap lately on eBay after the launch of the 8800, but I was wondering if there was any huge difference? I'm not a huge gamer although my biggest vice is also one of the biggest video card hogs there is - Flight Simulator X.

My system has 2GB of RAM to sit comfortably beside it. Thanks.

Check out this video if yoo don't believe what I said about Flight Simulator X. Core 2 Quad 6700, 2x8800GTX SLI. Crazy...

no. 8800 or nothing.

LOL

Duh, Crysis is probably the most demanding PC game ever.

And what exactly is wrong with the 8600?

Why do you persist, Mr Anderson?

It's vastly inferior to the 8800

and the 8800gt can be picked up for a similar price (and it's vastly more powerful)

If your set on a 8600, Unless you're running a Vista machine, I suggest getting the ATI x2950 Pro instead. 50$ cheaper, and the best direct x 9 vid card out there.

However, the 8800 is on a league of its own. Its *almost* 4 times better then the 8600 (not an exageration)

Well worth the 50 and even 100$ extra (depends where you buy, I suggest Newegg)

I think the 8800GT has like... 128 shaders, while the 8600GTS has only 34. so um... ya, a lot better.
*wishes he did the research before buying the card.
