A national news network being held responsible for it's inaccuracies? Preposterous!

I'd let it slide if it had been some local bumpkin station, but seeing a colossal screwup like this on nationwide television is just disgusting.

Fox requests live face off with EA

Quote:
The ongoing Mass Effect 'sex' saga which kicked off following Fox News Channel's inaccurate drubbing of the RPG has taken a fresh turn.

Now, Fox News Channel wants to invite EA to a live TV debate to talk things over.

It follows the publication of a letter penned by Jeff Brown, EA's vice president of communications, which was sent to Fox.

In the letter, he called out the news channel and asked for an apology over its "reckless" and error-heavy coverage of Mass Effect.

In the error-laden news segment in question, the headline indicated that the game included "full digital nudity and sex", while a voiceover claimed that players could engage in "graphic sex".

"Fox News Channel has extended several invitations to EA through a company representative to appear on Live Desk With Martha MacCallum to discuss Mass Effect and the segment which aired on Monday. We have received no response", Fox News has now said in a statement.

Yeah, most of the comments have been deleted though but some were funny like the "I hate this book. This book sucks. I haven't read it though"

it's a tarp!

it kinda does sounds liek a trap for th emedia to make it seem like EA doesnt get THEIR facts straight. But, I would suggest EA to have an agreement with FOX to have enough air time to place all the facts on the table and let the debaters spew their garbage.

=D

wow that was just loverly.

but i can not believe our gaming community has stooped to their lvel. Or was it for the greater good?

Journalists are idiots. Ignore them.
The ignorant lady apologized recently for what she said. Basically, she did the unthinkable and watched someone play Mass Effect...

Now all that remains is for Fox to apologize and admit they're wrong! But hey, at least that lady had enough sense to realize her folly and be honorable enough to admit it.

[Edit]

Letting these ignorants have free reign is how my damned country ended up the way it has. It's time we took action and told them to shut it! Sure they have every right to say what they please, but we have equal right to prove them wrong.

Following the news that Fox apparently invited Electronic Arts onto "Live Desk With Martha MacCallum" to discuss Mass Effect, we wondered what EA's reaction would be. It seems EA's not interested.

When asked if there's anything new to report, EA VP of Communications Jeff Brown told us, "Not much to say other than there's no interest here in another debate with an 'expert' that will say anything to sell a book. They need to step up and correct the record."

Gamers and industry pundits would seem to agree. Many have said that Fox has to simply issue their own correction and make their viewers aware of what Mass Effect is really about. If someone from EA goes on television and they're treated in the same abrupt, condescending manner that Geoff Keighley was, then that serves no purpose and only stirs the pot further. That said, if a member of EA is actually allowed to speak at some length about Mass Effect and the growth of games as medium, then it could do some good, we believe.

looks like EA knew it was a tarp too! mad props to them.
