Full Version: Rock Band Wii Confirmed

Today in a third quarter conference call, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello confirmed that a Wii version of the popular music game Rock Band would be coming to Wii in the future. Nothing more was said and Riccitiello only spoke of the "coming launch" of a Wii version.

Speculation of a Wii version has been rampant since Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos unofficially said that a Wii version of the game would be coming in the future. An EA representative contacted by IGN could not give details on a release date and only confirmed that a Wii version was indeed coming. Earlier this week it was found that the standalone Rock Band microphone packaging stated that it would also be compatible with Wii, which once again stirred up the rumors of a Wii version.

It is still unknown how downloadable content could function, however if Activision was able to figure out how to make it work in Guitar Hero III it could very well be possible for Harmonix to include this in Rock Band as well.

Good news for those without a 360 or PS3!

Also, I accidentally made a similar thread in the 3rd Party forum... close it? (if you look at the time signature it was literally 9 minutes after this thread Toungue )

lol. There was no way I was gonna get beat to this. Toungue

I figured by the wake of chainsawed carnage left in your trail to the Portal Toungue

I wonder how they're gonna go about DLC if they incorporate it...
The only thing I can think of is that Activision either convinced Nintendo to make a hard drive, or let Wii owners download directly to their SD cards and play from them.
I am so pumped to hear this! my friend has rock band on 360 and i wanted to get it for wii, but its not out and he always made fun of me for not being able to get it, we'll see who gets the last laugh now. ^_^ cant wait!
I can't wait, but does this mean my guitar hero 3 is useless?
Well, I know with the 360 version at the very least that you can use GHIII's guitar with Rock Band. Hopefully this will also be the case with the Wii version of Rock Band.
This is great news for all Wii Owners. I'll probably be picking up Rock Band in the future but not sure for which system. I haven't played it but really want to, especially the drums.
I wish they would at least tell us the month that it will come out.

The drums are great. They're my favorite instrument to play.

Yay..too bad I dont want it lol. GH3 is good enuff.
That's where you're wrong. Rock Band > GH

I just realised something. If they port over the PS2 version that means no online at all and no World Tour mode. The two best features of Rock Band. If that does happen I'll just get Guitar Hero. So to clarify, RB > GH > Gimped RB

Multiplayer does make everything better. But if considering solo play, I think GH3 wins there...
However, GH3 doesn't have drums... this is a pickle...

Friends > Single player

GH3 is good for practicing to "save the band" though when your teammates fail. xD

I just want to play the drums and am not really interested in the guitar. I feel playing the drums is more realistic than using the guitar and I enjoy it more.
A friend of mine who actually plays drums says that playing on Expert is probably as close to playing real drums as you're going to get in a video game.

Except maybe some game I saw in an arcade once where it was a fully drumming game.
Is there singing in RockBand? If there is, i'm SO buying this, yea, I like singing.
Glad to see this game coming out for the Wii. I was going to get it anyway for the PS3 but maybe I'll wait now and see how the Wii version turns out before I decided which version I want .
>_< damn now i got to start saving up again ....*sigh*
might buy it, hard to justify spending 200 bucks on a game though
