I just took my second remote out of the drawer and it is completely dead. It has not been used much and we are sort of gentle with the remotes. I have also changed the batteries. Does anyone know what could have happened? It worked last time I put it in the drawer and now nothing works. No lights. Nothing. My second remote works just fine. The remote (and the console) is about 2 month old.

you might try asking the question at Nintendo's tech forum here: http://techforums.nintendo.com/nins/boar...d=wii_tech
if not, try calling Nintendo's customer support, they might have an answer for you.
If nintendo doesn't do anything or you can't fix it, try buying another wii-mote and return the broken one saying it didn't work. This usually works, especially if the broken one doesn't have much wear. Dishonest.. yes. But do it at walmart, that way you jip and "evil" corperation.
I would look closer at the batteries. Take the batteries out of the working remote and swap them. If the "broken" remote works and the other stops working, you know the new batteries are defective.

You could also call Nintendo's support line. They are really good about this kind of thing, and will likely ship you another (you may have to send yours in).
I will try and call the support line. I have already swapped the batteries and the broken one is still broken and the working one is still working. So it is not the batteries. But again, I will call the support. If I don't get a good answer there I will what Harmonica suggested. Thank you all.
if you havent used the remote at all, maybe it needs synced (little red button under the battery cover)
I have used it before and it worked perfect last time.
This exact thing happened to me twice. Just completely power off the console. Uplug it, or whatever, just so the light turns off, not so it is red.
Thanks for the suggestion but no luck. It seems as if the remote is just dead. At least I have learned (for the 100 time) to save the receipt when I buy something. I will go for the (dishonest) way of Harmonica. But thank you all.

I just saw this thread now. Sorry to hear about the Wiimote and that's very strange. If the lights aren't even blinking at all then something is definitely wrong. If you do try to exchange it make sure that it has the same wrist strap. Yours may have the older style than the new one you get to exchange it with so make sure to switch them beforehand.
Aah ok. Thanks for the tip.
