This is my first attempt at making a sig, i got a little bit of guidance from this guy in my class(especially on the right brushes to use) but the jist of it was my work, take a look:

And go ahead and critique it, but remember its my first sig ever
Here is my second sig I made today in 5th period comm tech with the same help. Its pretty nice imo. I knew a couple of brushes to use this time.

I'm probably going to edit it to display more of the render.
Nice job Smile
looks good for being your first
Thats a really good first attempt. Well done.
Well I tried another when I got home, this time without any aid.... I hope my skills don't fail horribly without guidance, critique it, be as rough as you like.
Man i hate when you Photoshop "noobs" are so modest! Lol. You call yourself a noob but i know its a hell of a lot better than i can do. Keep it up!
I like the one you are using in your sig the best. Great job!!!
I noticed that most of the sigs I make are starting to feel the same, so i'm trying to change up what I do, starting with the background, can anyone help me with that, also I forgot how to add a border aroun dthe sig, is it the stroke?
Yeah, the border is a stroke.

Overall, for a totally new Photoshopper, it's good. Though it's all very monotone, and the text really sticks out.
Also, resize & blend your renders a bit. d:

Finally, don't be afraid to try C4Ds/smudging. They can get you far.

For lots of resources, to go http://www.planetrenders.net
Good luck. Smile
Here's another one for the character's that i'll be maining in Brawl, i didn't have a Marth render at the time but if i put him in it would've like to cluttered anyway.

And i'm already a member of planet renders and I'm gonna try C4D's the fact is I just don't know how to use them properly.

Captin Hitsugaya ftw that sig is awesome.

nice work there matey... I am not as good in that imagination dept as you seem to be Wink

If you are using stroke and you have already defined your dimensions for the canvas... be sure to change the stroke position to "inside" or "centre" or you may not see it Wink and don't settle for monocolour borders either. Some can look the part with nice gradients or patterns.

As for the text, I agree. on those kind of sigs, i'd say try some blending or filters... try a few with your "layer" settings set to "overlay" and see what happens Big Grin

all in all... nice pieces there Big Grin
More excellent advice from the local Joker ^_^
Overall, nice for a bigginer, my one piece of advice is to stick away from making backgrounds out of brushes.
Read tutorials to find out other ways to make backgrounds (Read, don't follow, just get as many ideas as possible for lots of different tuts and mix it up a bit)

Who thinks I should start making sigs again? :p
I tried making one recently, I'm a noob again. xD

Yep he's my fave Bleach char.

Thanx for all the advice guys, i'm going to try something with a C4D now, hopefully it wonn't be to horrific.

Here is a Zeta Gungam one I made before all the advice came flowing in

And here's my first attempt using a C4D. It kinda felt weird working with it.

I'm gonna open a portfolio and start putting my sigs there instead.
