Two of my fave games from last year are honored for prestigious awards.

Kudos Nintendo!

Nintendo Wins Two Interactive Achievement Awards

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has honored Nintendo with two Interactive Achievement Awards, including Handheld Game of the Year for The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS and Adventure Game of the Year for Super Mario Galaxy for Wii.

Both games have also enjoyed strong momentum, with more than 2.5 million copies of Super Mario Galaxy sold since its Nov. 12, 2007, debut and more than 1.1 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass sold since its Oct. 1, 2007, release.

Nintendo received nine nominations in eight gaming categories. The awards were presented the night of Feb. 7, 2008, at the Academy’s annual Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain conference in Las Vegas. The awards are among the most respected in the interactive entertainment community.

It's funny how no one seems to care. XD
old news
I wonder if people should be looking at this and saying....wow after Nintendo's huge year in 2007 they only got 2 awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. Perhaps finally others are seeing the 3rd party mess Nintendo has with the Wii.
Meh, doesn't stop my dissatisfaction at Nintendo.
lol at you guys

If you can look at both the Wii sales and DS sales and not be disappointed that Nintendo put out only two 1st party games that were "good enough" (<----matter of opinion) to win an award from this group, then either your a big fan of mini-games, or still haven't realized you deserve more from Nintendo.

There's no reason why Nintendo couldn't have double or triple the number of awards if they'd just push quality control.

Or you should stop whining about mini-games and actually try to enjoy them rather than just complaining without even playing them,

QFT

I have no problem with Nintendo because Galaxy, Corruption, and Twilight Princess can all keep me busy...And when Brawl and Mario Kart i wont need another video game for a long time...Plus the minigames are great for hanging out and when u dont want to play a more demanding game

So I guess you're proud of the fact the PS3 only had one winning game, unless you count the multiplatform games which won.

I'm proud to know that when Sony comes out with a total dud game, we call it for what it is, but with the Nintendo Wii, we cover our eyes and just wait for the next decent 1st party game and ignore all the others that are clearly made cheaply and have little quality control.
the DS and Wii have more good to great games than i can afford to buy, so i have no complaints at all

i am thrilled with my game console and handheld,

sorry you got a dud

Which Wii games do you own?

hey, im pretty satisfied with what i've got. i play on my own but most of the time either ive got people over or im toting my wii to a friends house; i think my WiiSports gets more gameplay than ANY other game we own. I still play games like Galaxy on my own, but i've also got a second account on there that i play with my sister; the co-op mode is kinda fun.

So they only have two or three "award worthy" games. Who cares? If those award winning games keep me coming back for more, then they've succeeded. I'd rather have 20 games that i play with friends with two or three that keep me happy on my own than 23 games that suck and none that are good. Just because they're catering to the casual gamers doesn't mean that they suck and fail at life.

so congratulations to nintendo; those two games are definitely award-worthy and deserve the awards.
Meh, all three consoles are pretty mediocre at the moment from my perspective. I'm still playing my GCN and PS2 games.
