I wouldn't mind if unevolved forms could still be really powerful. I always, and I mean ALWAYS, keep my starter in my party, (mostly because fire is my favorite type, and Blaziken just plain kicks ass) but my Pikachu in yellow lacks behind the rest of my party horribly.
