So I rented this game last week and really liked it. At times the story mode didn't really do much for me, but the online is where this game really is. Of course it's at this time that not one single person on my buddy list was actually on playing the game, so that was odd (Angel where were you?)
I'm obviously not very good at the online mode, but found that with a little patience and some common sense you could make advancements like in any game. I don't think I'll be picking the game up, at least not right now, but maybe in the next couple of months if nothing else tickles my fancy.
*yeah that was me you just killed

This game is the ultimate LAN Party game. I play it here:

Awesome LAN place in my city with MASSIVE specs!
I just picked up Orange Box for the PS3 but haven't tried it online. I tried Portal and was totally clueless on how to play it. I tried Half Life 2 but couldn't get past the beginning because I have no clue on what to do. I started to try Team Fortress 2 so that I could possible play with others from here online but there's no tutorial or training mode. I guess I'm just supposed to jump in the game and run around like a chicken with my head cut off while my teammates swear and yell at me for being a retard and not knowing how to play. I really do want to try it but feel sorry for the team that gets stuck with me while I try to learn how to play...
On another note I'm still playing and loving Guitar Hero III. I'm a GH noob so I just finished the game on easy and am playing on medium at the moment. I'll do the hard mode when I finish medium. In easy I had mostly scores in the upper 90's but so far in Medium I've only have one 90+. So either I really suck or it's much harder when they throw in one extra button and I have to adjust. I can't even imagine what hard mode will be like...
Update: I finally tried one game of Team Fortress 2 online tonight but I couldn't even move properly. It was very jumpy and I kept teleporting and appearing in random places. I don't know if it's lag or a bad connection or whatnot but it was unplayable. I may give it another shot tomorrow night.

the first few levels of portal are basically tutorials.
the coolest thing about HL2 is that it doesnt hold your hand.
TF2 is incredible. if it wasnt laggy i'd probably play that over COD4. there are tons of youtube tutorials for all the different classes. if youre just trying to figure out what each character does, youre better off playing in 2fort since, from my experience, it's where all the newbies hang around and get used to the controls/classes.
