essentially, which is why i've always been amazed by the tension between anarchists and libertarians. it amazes me to this day that most anarchists vote w/ the left and most libertarians vote w/ the right, despite the fact that they are the two remaining bastions of classic liberal thought and have more in common w/ each other than they do w/ the rest of the dems and reps.

Perhaps the average self-described anarchist looks for personal freedoms, while a libertarian generally wants economic freedom and just happens to be less controlling about social freedoms than most republicans? I know I would fit this description. Apparently I'm the only person here that would vote for McCain, out of the ones listed.

In all fairness, the broad groups generally do dislike their extreme sections.

in an ideal world, i would love to see an Obama/McCain ticket against Huckabee,

it would go a long way in reaching across the aisle...

that being said i dont see McCain losing the primary

so i will probably go with Obama over McCain
Anarchism is so extreme it goes against Libertarianism.
How can you have economic and personal freedom without at least a minimal government? You need someone to uphold the law, or everyone will be doing anything they want and it'll basically be a battle of gangs everyday fighting over power.
Not what the Libertarians want.

i concur to an extent, that the two groups desire specific types of freedom more than others and as such support viable candidates that support those most, but at the same time it's not like economic and personal freedoms are mutually exclusive to themselves.

um... it seems that you feel that we are endowed w/ rights by our gov't, rather than by our creator or nature. this would be in direct conflict w/ both anarchist and libertarian political theory. a gov't can in libertarian ideology can gain it's rights and purpose from the people, but not visa versa.

perhaps you are worried by the percieved threat of vigilantism often associated w/ anarchism. this is under the assumptions that people will resort to vigilantism to solve issues w/ great frequency and severity, and that the vigilantism that would occur is somehow of greater proportions than the vigilantism which even a minimalist gov't perpetrates (in the name of order). historically, the anarchist communities and regions that have existed in the world have suggested otherwise.

Didn't one of the parties state that if they got in they'd put Chuck Norris in charge of defence? If so, I'd vote for that party xD I mean, anything is better than where your country is at the moment anyway.
