This year's edition of MLB The Show looks fantastic. Sporting a bevy of features on both PS3 and PSP, The Show looks to be this year's most comprehensive sports game. For example, both the PS3 and PSP version support custom soundtracks, as demonstrated in this new PlayStation.blog post.

The PS3 version in particular has grabbed our interest. Why? It looks absolutely stunning. You'll be able to tell us what you think tomorrow, as a demo launches on the PLAYSTATION Store -- for PS3 and PSP! The full game launches on March 4th.

I'm not a big fan of baseball games, but I'll be downloading this demo to see how good the game will be.
I haven't played a baseball game since my days of owning the Snes. I will definitely download this demo to see how it is.
So how is it?
I don't know. It didn't show up yet but I'm in a different time zone. It should show up my time by about midday. I'll check to see if it's there tomorrow and I'll let you know what I think.
I'm downloading it tonight, so I should be able to give a 1st impression on the demo tomorrow.
Ok, I'll be sure to check it out and I'm definitely downloading it as well.

Oh by the way, have you tried doing the game sharing thing on the PS3 that allows you to share a downloaded game with up to 5 people/5 machines? I was reading about it on another site. Over here it sucks because they don't sell the cards in the stores to get the points but I received a couple of small cards free when I bought my PS3. It will only be enough to get one game though and my choices are kinda slim since it's only for the store in Singapore. Right now my choices are some version of LocoRoco, not sure if it's the real game or a spinoff (forgot the exact name), Rub a Dub, the sky diving game, and a couple others I can't remember off the top of my head.

If you could give me some feedback on which one would be at least decent then I could get it and share it with you. I'll have to change my password temporarily so that you can go onto my account on your PS3 to download it and when you finish I can change it back. After this I'll create another account just for sharing so I won't have to reset the password every time. Let me know what you think.
No Mana I didn't know about that feature.  I just checked the PSN store (US store) and I don't see MLB 08 Demo anywhere on there.  There must be an issue or possibly a delay for the demo.

UPDATE:

I just saw the demo on PSN and am downloading it now. I haven't owned a baseball game since Ken Griffey Jr. on the N64 (which sucked), but I have high hopes for this game Wink
I dunno. This game looks great graphically, but baseball games have never really been my style...but I guess I'll download the demo and see what I think of it.
I'm downloading it now. I've finished about 75% of it but it's quite a big file size plus we're having trouble with our internet connections over here.

GFT, Sony allows and actually promotes the sharing thing I was talking about. You can buy the games in the shop and share them with up to 5 different people/5 different machines. I was reading on a PS3 site where they form groups of 5 and actually split the price of the game and then download it.
So.. by the lack of response it's incredibly awesome or incredibly shallow.
lol, I forgot to come back and post here. I tried it out but I must say that my "review" of it will be a bit unfair since I only had the chance to play it once. My friend was over and we were playing GH3 and TW08. Keep in mind that I haven't played a baseball game since Roger Clemons as well. As far as the graphics go I was very impressed with them as well as the animations. I also like the way you can use the six-axis to change how you slide into bases and how you can jump or dive for balls. There isn't much motion used in the game and it seemed just the right amount. As far as the controls go I was a bit lost and wasn't exactly sure what I was doing. They don't tell you how to use the pitching meter exactly and I'm pretty sure I wasn't using it right. I think if I played it a couple more times then I could give a better review but that's all I can think of off the top of my head after playing it once. I'll be sure to try it some more tomorrow.
I have to agree with Mana. The graphics are very nice, animation is top-notch, and it was nice to see a crowd that didn't look like cardboard cut-outs. The demo doesn't give you a lot of insight as to what you should do, so I'd wing it while pitching which paid off, but when the other team actually got a hit off me I didn't realize that I was suppose to throw the ball to 1st base (I thought the other player would be computer controller), and when I did realize I was in control, I ended up throwing the ball past 1st base and was seemed to be the 1st base couch Smile

I think baseball fans will love the game, and I plan to play the demo more tonight and will give any additional impressions...both good and bad.
