I have the Wii and a 26" widescreen Sony Bravia HDTV.  I want the wii to output 480p, but it is not giving me the option (it is grayed).  The only choice I have is 480i.  What do I have to do.need to buy in order for the Wii to output 480p?
You need to buy Nintendo Wii Component Cables Smile
Thanks, what's the price and is there a noticeable difference from 480i?
Yeah there'd be a noticeable difference! They cost around $25/30 I think.
I have a 26" 720p HDTV also and to be honest, my Wii games looked better on my SDTV. so I just keep it in 4:3 mode. but I'm using component cables right now, and haven't tried the composites, so i'm not sure on that one. but I do remember joker saying something about how he noticed a big difference from composites to components on his HDTV.

It makes all those horrible white outlines disappear.

Thanks, I'll be purchasing these cables. Smile

white outlines?

anyways for example, super mario galaxy, looked great on my SDTV and then I recently popped it in just to see what it would look like on my hdtv, and the edges were sharp, and had that 'stair-step' effect to them, but with SDTV's, they aren't as clear as hdtvs obviously and therefore don't have those ugly sharp edges.

IMO there really isnt a difference

Wii Component Cables for <$13.50 shipped (WiiLoaded gets $1 commission)
You can also go to http://www.monoprice.com and buy the cables. I purchased a set for $6 dolor's a number of months ago.
I use the component cables and they do make a difference. At first you won't even notice it honestly but here's what you do. Play using the component cables for about 30 mins to an hour. You can even play Wii Sports if you'd like. Then play it without using them and you'll notice the difference. I found with my component cables the image was much sharper and the colors are more vivid as well. I think it's totally worth getting.
It really makes a difference in Twilight Princess and Maro Galaxy. The colors are just more lively and brillant. Plus it'll improve your Gamecube games (assuming they support the resolution)
Ooo, where does it say ifyour GC games support 480p?

On the GC game case? I had a set of component cables for my gamecube, and they made a difference back then. They were hard as crap to find back then, and I had to pay top dollar to import from HK.

If you put in a GC game that supports it, it will ask if you want to run it in progressive mode.

It makes SSBM look a lot better. Same with both Metroid Primes.
Oh, then I guess TS doesn't support it, it only asks for widescreen.
