WTF?
LMX, you were right.
I have to say, though, the plot in Episodes 1, 2, & 3 is much more complex than the original trilogy. I think what everyone means to say but isn't quite hitting, is that the STORY TELLING in the original trilogy is much, MUCH better.
Let's face it--IV, V, and VI were all pretty much the same (that is, Rebel Alliance trying to defeat the Empire and restore democracy) with a few plot twists to keep things interesting. I, II, and III were all about corruption within a governing body and the conspiracy that destroyed a republic and imposed a totalitarian empire upon an entire galaxy. By nature that is going to be more complex than the struggle of the freedom fighters. THE DIFFERENCE IN THE MOVIES, however, is that the simpler story is told much better, while the more complex story in the new trilogy is told in a manner like this: "plotpointplotpointplotpointimportantinformation OOOOOOHHH! LOOK AT THE SHINY SHIPS AND BIG EXPLOSIONS! LIGHT SABER FIGHTS!!!"
Does that make sense?
