Earlier, Nintendo Australia issued to Gameplayer that journalists will be able to get hold of a copy of Mario Kart in March. They also reported that Mario Kart will be appearing on shelves earlier than Brawl! Yes, I did say earlier.
It is unlikely that Mario Kart will be released in Australia in March as Japan aren't getting the game until April; but this still builds up the strong chance of Aussie gamers playing the title possibly months before they even get to see Brawl in the flesh. This still leaves Australia, and other PAL regions, without a release date for Brawl; although it is rumoured to not be hitting shelves until June!
I have to say, Mario Kart before Brawl is a big surprise to me. I wasn't expecting PAL gamers to get the title until late 2008/early 2009. After all the hype for Brawl and the little focus on Mario Kart, it looks like Mario Kart Wii will be seeing Australia much earlier than expected; which is sure to shock and possibly disappoint all gamers wanting Brawl as this could push Brawl's release back even further. So it looks like Australia, and most likely the other PAL regions, may have an even longer delay for Brawl.
