Full Version: UPDATE: Brawl Coming to PAL Regions... in the Fall

Updated. See below.

We all knew the PAL gamers would more than likely get Super Smash Bros. Brawl a little later than the rest of us. What we didn't know was exactly how much later. In a 1UP podcast Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime was questioned about the reasoning behind having Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit hit Europe before the US. The answer was that it is because Europe won't be getting Brawl until the Fall/Autumn. As if it wasn't already hard enough to be a Nintendo fan in the PAL regions, Nintendo has just made it that much worse.

So I ask you, does an earlier release of Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit really make up for a supposed much later release of what will undoubtedly be Wii's biggest game in Brawl? And how many people in the PAL countries are considering importing American consoles and games if they haven't already?

Update: It seems that things were blown way out of proportion due to a simple mistake on behalf of 1UP. EGM Editor Shane Bettenhausen has stepped in to clear things up. In the 1UP podcast NoA President Reggie Fils-Aime never specified an exact time for Brawl's release in Europe. Instead he did mention that the game had been moved out of a winter/spring release due to the large amount of localization for that version's many languages (menus, options, and mainly stickers and collectibles it is to be assumed). It is for that reason that Nintendo pushed up the release dates of Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii in the region. No official statement regarding Super Smash Bros. Braw's release in PAL territories has ever been made and it seems like a big deal was made out of nothing. You can cancel the delivery of that bomb to Reggie's house now.

I prefer Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so for me it's better. All the same, I can understand why some people would be frustrated, it is a stupid move. 6/7 months away then?
SSBB FTW!
*kisses NA Soil*
I wont be surprised if they found Reggie with a wii-mote in the chest tomorrow morning...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

*imports NTSC Brawl and kicks Nintendo in the face*
awwww

*brands LMX as a north americandite.*
This is because we put Sega ahead of Nintendo back in the early 90s, isn't it? Seriously, how difficult can it be to translate Brawl into a few other languages and change the frame rate? Microsoft can normally manage it within two weeks.
Maybe you did, but I never put Sega before Nintendo.
I have to wait to till March 30th to buy mine, because of money issues, but one month isn't as bad as 6-7 months.
But I bet people like lm-x are happy they have an american Wii so they can import.
I don't have an American Wii yet, but I'm gonna get one soon. For now a modded Wii will suffice.

I meant "we" as in Europe. Back in the day Sega did better than Nintendo in Europe.

I'd much rather have SSBB than Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit. I don't even think I'll be getting Wii Fit period. I will pick up SMKW when it comes out though.
The reason that I'm so annoyed isn't because I'm upset about Brawl. I can wait for brawl but it's because of the years of Nintendo hating PAL and giving us the most hyped game 7 months late then try and make up for their laziness with different games that're not as hyped...
I still like MKWii and Wii Fit, and honestly I'm not stressed about Super Smash Bros. Brawl considering I've nobody to play it with. Online is only so good, up to the point where you wish the person was sitting beside you so you could yell at them when you got a smash move. We don't even have voice chat to compensate. I'm with LMX, I'm buying a PS3 later this year (summer IF I get a job, which looks quite likely!) or else Xmas 2008 at the latest. I like PS3, even if the load times induce migraines.
That really sukcs for PAL gamers. But for those of you who think they aren't getting it because of translating whatever that wouldn't be the problem at all.

The only reason it's so delayed is so that they can keep up with demand. I mean the game is going to sell like hotcakes everywhere.
Hey Nintendo, do you think we could trade? Later release for Wii Fit for an earlier release for Brawl?

But MKWii is also a multiplayer game. Wouldn't you not have anyone to play it with as well?

Well I havn't turned my Wii on since before Christmas last year so a few more months is no biggie luckly I have my 360 and DS.

Is the saying "Don't shoot the messenger familiar to you?"
If anyone is to blame it is NoE and Nintendo Australia as a whole because all Reggie did was pass along the message.
