I recently had the joy of completing Devil May Cry 4 on the 360 and thought, "This game would be pretty insane on the Wii". Well, thanks to Devil May Cry 4’s lead producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi I can now go and cry in shame for even thinking of something absurd as a DMC Wii game. Here's what Kobayashi had to say:
Crispy Gamer: With the recent popularity of the Wii, it seems that casual gaming is the new direction in which videogames are heading. Yet, I love the fact that Devil May Cry 4 is still designed to be a hardcore experience for hardcore gamers. I’m happy that you believe that there are enough hardcore gamers out there to support Devil May Cry 4. Beyond that, I hope the series never winds up on the Wii.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi: [Laughs] You know, a lot of people ask us if we are going to bring out a Wii version. I simply don’t think you can make the game the type of game it is, with the awesome graphics and control — I don’t think that would work on the Wii. So, I don’t think we’re going to bring one out, no.
Crispy Gamer: We appreciate that.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi: Plus, if you had to do the High Roller on the Wii [makes swinging motion upwards with two hands], you would probably get very tired.
Well it seems that Kobayashi believes that not only is the Wii incapable of living up to the DMC name graphically, but in terms of controls as well. While I do agree that it would be tiring swinging around the Wii remote like a madman (Dante's Swordmaster style anyone?), there's obviously ways around that. Look at Brawl, it has four different control styles and a customizeable button configuration, every Wii game doesn't necessarily need to tack on motion control mechanics. As for graphically not being able to hold an entry in the DMC series, I think with a different art direction, not only would something like that be sufficient, but not many DMC fans would complain. If I remember correctly, Dante made an appearance in Viewtiful Joe and not only did no one complain, but they welcomed the addition. At the very least give us a spin-off with cel-shaded graphics like Viewtiful Joe Kobayshi. Is that so hard? I'm pretty sure Wii fans are dying for a hardcore action game right now, and what better entry is there than DMC?

I only bought dmc4 yesterday. It's my first dmc game and I'm so loving it!
Yeah, it's awesome. :p
I really wish they'd take the time and put it on the Wii though. :/
dmc4?! pssh c ya lt8 n00bz, imma ply sum SAMURAI WARRIORS KATANAAAAA
Sorry to say you are going to have to buy another console to play these types of games. I think many people have underestimated the importance of graphics...

DMC4 is nyet worth it.
I have it for PS3. It's kinda wack.
As much as I'd LOVE this game to be ported to the Wii, I knew it wouldn't happen. The Wii just wouldn't be able to handle it graphics wise...
Just cause the game isn't graphically capable of being on the Wii doesn't mean that it can't happen. According to this article, the only thing different about this DMC game is that it's graphically superior to the previous ones. Does that mean the other 2 aren't worth it?
If you love DMC, then play the first one. Its better.
I'm gonna download the demo of DMC4 and try it out. I've never tried any of the other ones though but I've seen videos of DMC4 and it looks fun. I understand the graphics comment but the control one doesn't hold water since you can use the GC controller, the classic controller, etc..
Were we really expecting DMC4 on Wii in the first place?
It's not just DMC4. The interviewer said he hopes the series never goes on the Wii.
Yeah, those are some pretty strong words. I know the interviewer(s) was asking him to please not put it on the Wii. It was actually Crispy Gamer that said that. Hiroyuki Kobayashi just said graphics and control wise it wouldn't work on the Wii.
just goes to show Hiroyuki Kobayashi has no imagination, if he can't see how to do a control system with the wii mote that doesn't need gesture controls,
thats probably why DMC4 is just another sub standard sequel, DMC was good then it just kinda went down hill from there, i hope they hurry up and finish the story then DMC can be retired.

You may not be happy with what was said in this article, but that doesn't give you any justification for making things up. Here's the first 5 review scores for Devil May Cry 4 from Metacritic who gets all the scores from all the websites and tallies them up. After the first 5 scores, there were 15 more scores of 90, so your "sub standard sequel" comment is either really misinformed or your attempt at misinformation.
