Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 Bundle
To coincide with the much-anticipated North American launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in late Q2 2008, SCEA will introduce a PS3 bundle, which will include an 80GB PS3, the upcoming blockbuster Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for $499.99 (MSRP).
So you're basically getting MGS4 and a Dualshock 3 for free? Amazing.

I like this. Will Best Buy and other retailers discontinuing sales of the 80GB model will make the exception for this bundle?
I believe the only 80gb PS3's you can buy at Best Buy are the Motor Storm bundle, so this will just replace that one.
Forgive my memory, but does this 80 gb model not have backwards compatibility?
The 80gb PS3 has is backwards compatible through software emulation.

Well, that settles whether or not I was gonna get a PS3. This is a good move because aren't the 80GB PS3's $499 anyway or am I mistaking it with something else?
Yeah, I believe they are so it's like you get Metal Gear 4 for free as well as an upgraded PS3 Six-Axis to a Dual Shock 3! If you plan on getting one I'd say that this is a sweet bundle.
It's a great deal since the dualshock 3 six-axis controller is going to be so expensive. I think G4TV said something like $52???
Yeah, it's $55. Couple that along with a $60 dollar game and you're getting your money's worth.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is dated for June 4, so I'm guessing it will launch on that day also.
Well, this bundle is officially a winner. I'll start saving as soon as I get Brawl imported. Huzzah.
