I own the Wii and PS3.  I think you are being a little overprotective.  People are only ragging on the Wii if they have a problem with it and it's not necessarily out of dislike for the Wii.  I know I have always been a Nintendo fan and I complain about the Wii a lot because I'd like to see it do better and be the best.  I've always rooted for Nintendo but sometimes they can be so thickheaded about what the consumer wants.  Can't we love more than one system?

maybe you are an exception, seems lately the whining has become deafening though mana, and when negatives about other systems are pushed forth it get labeled fanboyish and dismissed, but if wii-bashing goes on its 'just looking with a critical objective eye'...hogwash

I'm hardly alluding myself. Games can be epic. Also PS3 isn't just better because of Blu-ray and graphics. It also has Home, and less gimicky controllers.

A) its not better...by any measuring stick

B) Home isnt even released yet, what if sucks like LAIR did...this is like saying the 360 rocks because it has Duke Nukem Forever

C) i think you mean revolutionary controllers not gimmicky

I don't think it's a matter of "good games" but what games you enjoy playing.  Consistently the Wii has much lower scores when it comes to games compared to the PS3 and especially compared to the 360.

would love to see a link supporting this "much lower" claim

sadly the old guard establishment just doesnt seem to understand the paradigm shift that is happening in the video game industry...hell phil harrison beleived it so strongly he resigned from sony because of their resistance to embracing social gaming

i own a wii, my family the 360...and surprisingly my dad's been playing the 360 more than i have >.>

but the combo works out pretty well, and it covers all bases in terms of game genres. probably wont pick up a ps3, nothing about it is really appealing to me.

Nintendo Wii game reviews by score

Playstation 3 game reviews by score

Xbox 360 game reviews by score

Remember these numbers come from an unbiased site that gets all the review scores. Not only are games on here, but also Film, DVD, Music, Books, and TV.

since you linked them i'll check em out, thanks

maybe unbiased but definitely old school mindset...

exhibit A-wiisports gets 76, nhl 08 a full 10 points higher at 86...is that REALLY a valid score difference...can anyone honestly tell me that a hockey game is that much BETTER than wii sports...NO WAY

but heres how it works, when a sports game comes in...it goes to the sports guy to review, he reviews it based on his interest level of sports games and the kind of stuff he is USED to playing

i think the Wii was so ahead of the curve, reviewers are just now catching on with how to review them...see recent scores for galaxy, zach and wiki, no more heroes, etc.

so while i appreciate your opinion, i dismiss the premise Smile
PS360 here with no plans on ever getting a wii.

When you can dismiss factual information because it doesn't fit with how you want to believe...that's kind of sad.  As for the 3 games you mentioned above, they are actually rated very good on the link I gave you, the problem is that there's a lot of other games that get very poor scores and it isn't because reviewers don't get the idea behind the Wii, it's because many of the games on the Wii are poor.

------------edit

You might wanna check some of those review scores too and look for what Nintendo Power gives some of the Wii games.  I think we'd both agree that Nintendo Power should have a good idea as to how a Wii game should be viewed and then rated.

76 for wii sports...cmon, how can anyone justify that score, its unbelievable

Maybe because it came bundled with the system back in 2006 and was suppose to be more of a demo getting gamers use to motion controls?

The bigger question might be why there hasn't been a great game to come along since Nov. 2006 to replace Wii Sports.

-----edit

Nintendo Power gave Link's Crossbow training a 65.

Nintendo Power Wrote:
It's just too darn short--you'll probably make it through the entire single-player mode in just over an hour (add another hour to get platinum medals on every stage). [Holiday 2007, p.84]

Is that unfair?

It was fun for a while.

And that was that. Twilight Princess was amazing.

And then it was over. I played the PS3 for the first proper time in my life with a good game.

And now I'm buying one. Wii will spawn a few good games in its lifetime.

And that'll be it.

nope, a 65 for crossbow is fair, but it is still worth 20 bucks

as for no great games since nov. 06, i think we just differ on what a great game is, their have been plenty IMO

Is that unfair?

No and yes.  It's not unfair because it is one publications opinion.  It is unfair because I for one have two issues with Nintendo Power's point of view.

1.  Saying it takes 1 hour to earn all platinums for someone playing it for the first time is a bit facetious (& flat out wrong).  I know of a site that track your medal counts with photographic proof, and very few have all platinums (none with photographic evidence last I checked.

2.  If they view Wii Sports in this manner (that one can experience all there is to experience in 2 hours), then they ought to view all games this way.  i.e. Super Metroid can be 100%'ed in an hour, Super Mario Bros. can be beaten in 5 minutes, and Ocarina of Time is a 10 hour game.

Fact is Wii Sports is an arcade game, not a tech demo.  There is no start and end, and the only way to beat it is to beat your (or other people's) high scores.  This is not unlike Frogger, Tetris, or any number of top notch games.  It may have started out as a tech demo, but it was fleshed out into a game, bound by rules and all.

Nicely put Harmonica and I have to agree with that. I still love Wii Sports and enjoy it more than most games on my Wii. I love the controls of it that feel spot on compared to most of the other games that have the waggle. There needs to be more games with controls that are as great as Wii Sports. Hell, there needs to be a Wii Sports 2 with all the previous games, more games, and online play. That game would rape the sales charts.
I understand what your saying Harmonica, but my overall point to drew102e is that you really can't disagree with hard factual numbers. Then when people throw out the idea that reviewers just don't know how to review Nintendo Wii games, that's when I asked if Nintendo Power was a company that could be trust, simply to make a point.

The big thing is this...if you love the system you got, then that's cool, but no matter what system you have...Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, don't feed people a bunch of BS and expect them to eat it. We all need to be realistic and understand that each system is flawed in it's own way. Sadly enough, when you bring this up about particular systems people put their heads in the sand.
Wii and 360 for me

...and pretend that everyone is ignorant except them.

my point was i really cant understand a 76 for wii sports, that is my point, its release was at launch, some reviewers didnt 'get' the wii THEN, think reviewer may be doing a more even handed job now,

what score did NP give wii sports? bet it was higher than a 76 or equivalent

Nintendo Power gave Wii Sports an 83/100.

Pot calling the kettle black?

Some/a lot of your posts are factual and informative, but constant harping on the Wii over the same faults gets old to people who enjoy the Wii... much like you tire of Wii owners/people criticizing the amount of great exclusives, exorbitant cost, ego, etc. on the PS3/with Sony.

Xbox 360=My life lol.
So on a Wii site, most people own PS3s...

I don't know what that means exactly.
