Assassin's Creed, overhyped, played it through once,
Halo 3, overhyped, i really don't like this game
Red Steel, overhyped, not bad, but not what i was expecing
Gears of war, overhyped, still playable.

the orange box, superhype, well deserved.
if the hype for the previous games was toned down that would have been nice.

You only 'know' if a game is to be awsome because of its hype snake.
you buy a zelda game becasue it's going to be awsome because it's
trading on the names of its predicessors.
what if the next one sucks!!!!!
it will still sell by the bucketloads
So many games go under the hype radar. Don't try and tell me hype makes a game, it doesn't. How can you say you "you only know if a game is to be awesome beacause of its hype" but then clearly make an example of a game that had hype but sucked

"Red Steel, overhyped, not bad, but not what i was expecing"

Don't bullshit.

Referring to my name makes no sense, ask anyone who owns a PS3. They are all excited for MGS4. It is a system seller. Oh and since when is it good games suffer from hype? You buy a game because it is going to be awesome, not because it has lots of hype or no hype.

Hype defines the games sales in a way. Say if Halo 3 was actually a utter phailure of a game well the hype sealed millions of sales since everyone rushed to buy it a.s.a.p

People may buy a hyped game just because it's hyped, but hype doesn't make a game awesome, fact.
your missing the point snake,
i agree hype doesn't make a game,
i'm making the point that over hype damages what
the consumer expects from it,
over hype only makes the games sell, doesn't mean that
they're any good. the exampled i used
red steel, halo 3, assassins creed.
were all overhyped and all let down a percentage of consumers in some way.

halo 3 sold by the bucket load, was it any good compared with cod4 halo 2,
well i don't think so, sure the diehard fans like it, but die hard fans
always will. you have to take the die hard fans out of the equation.

eg, if you didn't know anything about the games COD4 and Halo3
you could only afford one for your birthday, the only information you
have to go on about which one to get is the 'hype' that you've herd.
i would be willing to bet that most people in this situation would
endup walking away with halo 3, only to be disipointed after they play
cod 4 around at there friends house.

and i don't bulshit snake, rant maybe.

i probably should have said, the inverted commers around the word know, ie 'know', is referance to a persons perception about the truth at any given time, and in no way refurs to the truth of other peoples perceptions,
i hence was NOT stating that a game is only good if it is over hyped.
i WAS stating that an overhyped game will sell more that it should
and a persons perceptions of if a game is good relies on it's HYPE factor.

a appologise if i confused you in this matter.
Reviews are a wonderful thing...

You're missing his point.

He is saying that hype can damage a game. Think assassins creed. Originally it was absolutely jaw dropping and extremely hyped but the end product was good but not what the hype promised. Halo 3 was damaged by hype.

I'm talking bang (content) not buck (sales).

yeah revewers are human, and are therefor suseptable to hype.

SSBB comes out on March 9 right?  I'm sure the game will sell amazing, but here's a question.  Don't you think the real Nintendo fans who will be picking up SSBB have already bought a Wii?  I can't imagine they'd wait this long to grab a system for just that game.  Plus, for those who might wanna buy the game who don't have a system...even if Nintendo is holding some stock back, that might be what 15 systems per store?  Not that many if you look at the overall picture.

You'd think so, but I have two cousins who've been waiting to buy a Wii just for Brawl and I'm sure many others have been waiting as well (Lots of people on Gamefaqs have already said they've been waiting for Brawl to get a Wii).

15 systems per store x 2,000 stores = 30,000 console sales boost. That's quite a bit in the overall picture, and that's Gamestop alone.

Apparently a number of stores were stockpiling Wiis and unloaded them in huge numbers this past Sunday (think like ~150k). Don't be surprised if Wii numbers are in excess of 200k next week.

Where d'you get that from?

The guy that compiles these charts.

I remember a few weeks back it was hard to get a Wii in my small town. But I think they are easier to get now.

Damn. No More Heroes fell out of the top 50 after it looked like it had some good legs going for it. Sad
Buy it people. For the sake of hardcore Wii games everywhere.

I'm definitely buying it! I think it comes out here in the UK two weeks today. Luckily my mum will be giving me money.

Pffft Kindrik. I'm not worried about NMH dropping out, I'm still angered by lame Wii owners not buying more copies of Corruption.

It's unfortunate but not surprising considering Echoes only sold 1.28 million and it has yet to release in Japan. So at the very least Corruption will out do Echoes. I'm thinking it'll top out at 2M which is respectable.

Wait so Japan will soon be getting Corruption waaay after everyone else, yet they still haven't received Echoes WTF o.0
They have Echoes... its called "Dark Echoes" isn't it? I very much doubt they haven't got it yet.
They got it, it just didn't sell very well.
