Rather than attempting to hi-jack the Kart thread, I'd like to discuss Nintendo's game releasing strategy. Assuming the US sees Kart by early summer, what will be their fall/winter line-up? Wii Music + another classic revived? Zelda is likely out, Mario and Metroid are gone. Not sure a title like Mario Tennis could carry a holiday season. Am I forgetting a game?

I'm looking for positive comments only. Speculation more than welcome. It's going to be difficult to compete with the 12 months prior to Kart's release with games like Metroid, Mario, Smash and Kart (plus many others) being released in 1 years time. What would you most like to see?

I think my vote goes for Punch-out!, possibly with the option to utilize the balance board (depending on how well that works).
I'm thinking that something is going to get delayed. Perhaps they're gonna hold off Mario Kart Wii until December. I'd hate for that to happen but you bring up a good point. Have they given a release date for Wii Music yet? I'm actually really looking forward to that game and I think it would sell big in December.
If they'd release Kart in April in Japan and Europe, I can't imagine it being delayed til Nov-Dec in the states.  But a delay in Japan and Europe is possible.  Has there been an official announcement over any non-ported Mario Sport titles (Tennis, Golf)?

We may not find out anything til E3 (or whatever is the late spring early summer big game conference).  Personally I'd like to see something new/different in gaming (Wii Music might suffice) coupled with something big (revive a classic franchise or something that hasn't been rumored).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wii Music shelved or released as a Wiiware title.
Well, I wouldn't think that they'd delay Mario Kart Wii by that much but look what happened to SSBB. When it was it originally announced to come out? I could have sworn there was talk of it launching with the console. I know I've seen two delays. I hope this doesn't happen but with Nintendo it's highly possible. However, I still think Wii Music could just be big enough to pull of a great game for Christmas. It seems very interesting, very casual, and for everyone. I've honestly wanted it since I heard about it long ago and watched videos of people using two Wiimotes as virtual drumsticks.
I think its about time for nintendo to get to work on Disaster day of crisis and other New IP's for nintendo. SSBB and Mario Kart will mos def make the 1st half of the year and maybe up to Sept. but they are going to have to get to crackin on new ideas for Winter of 2008 and 2009.
Oooh, I forgot about Disaster. That looks like it will be a great game but I don't think it would be "the one". By the one I mean the special game that gets held off until the holiday season.
It's rumored Nintendo wil unleash an Animal Crossing Wii & Disaster Day of Crisis this year, but I don't know how lucky we'll be for that. MKWii should be hitting stateside around June/July, so it can sell decently without being in direct competition with Brawl. And Nintendo does have Mario Superstar Baseball scheduled to be released later this year.
Yeah but Mario Superstar Baseball is just another mario spinoff unless they make it REALLY awesome and provide online. I heard a rumor along time ago that Miyamoto was creating a new IP that was increadibly realistic. Similar to Lair for the PS3. If that came true i would immediatly buy it. I once had a dream that a mario game took place in a ultra realistic enviorment....Yeah...that will be the day when nintendo releases that kinda mario game huh?
More than likely Mario SuperStar Baseball will be online, I would be shocked if it wasn't. Don't know how good it'll be, since I've heard strikers is average. And I don't remember all the details but I know Miyamoto promised a new Nintendo IP for this year.
it wouldn't be strong enough to drive sells in december, but reprising the pikmin series would be nice. it would sell great in japan and sell reasonably well in the US if the previous two installments are any indication.
Yeah i would mos deff by a Pikmin Wii. And animal crossing online would be great. Bringing back old IP's and making sequels is a good idea but throw in new IP's so reviewers wont dog on nintendo for rehashing old franchises. You think that Sega would ever allow Nintendo to help on the next sonic game? Cuz like it or not Sonic is a big franchise character in the US and a good sonic game would spike sales.
Sega doesn't need to be worrying about another Sonic game, they need to start working on F-Zero Wii, GX was just pure awesomeness. I know Nintendo wouldn't release two racing titles in the same year though.
Right thats what im saying. Sega and Nintendo can make awesome games together. It would be great to see F-Zero on the Wii. Actually i wanna see starfox back on the Wii. Miyamoto should work solo on the next starfox tho. They need to bring back the Glory days of Starfox 64....man i swear im about to buy that off the virtual console...
I'm hoping they can get Disaster out by Christmas.
i wants to see a new Star Fox game!!!
Damn straight! Star Fox PLV! The wiimote would work pretty cool with the aiming. And just incase add multiple control types like Brawl and Kart. I would love online dogfights.Create ur own crew and customize your Arwing or Tank? Man i would kill for that. But knowing nintendo we wouldnt really get that type of game.-_- But hey at least we can hope sequal to star fox right?
LAAAAAAAAAANDMAAAAAAAASTER!!!!!! xD
No but seriously a Star Fox Wii game has the potential to really bring the series back to its glory days with Wii controls.
Only if they leave it in the right hands. There hasn't been a good Starfox game since Starfox 64.
Yeah nintendo's been relying on other companies to often. They should only recruit companies to work on the graphics but thats it.
Its not always a bad choice though, Retro make good games. But its been in bad hands lately, like Namco.
