Hey, just downloaded Photoshop yesterday. I'm a noob at this kind of stuff but I thought I'd watch a couple of tutorials and I've made a few sigs so far; but they are not all to do with gaming. Mine are extremely embarrassing compared to everyone elses but bear in mind I'm still learning. Smile

<--  It may be sad but I love That's So Raven Wink

Where are your non gaming ones? Post them!

Very nice Nat! Toungue
I like the SMG one.
The SMG one is amazing and the Zamus one is pretty cool too. Good Job Smile
Make me one?

I will tell you what I want on the way to school. Smile
What version of Photoshop do you use? I look forward to watching your progress.

I should really dust off the old Gimp-o-tronic.

CS3 is ftw, looking forward to seeing you improve.
Added new one at the bottom (my current sig). Smile

I'm going to be blunt and harsh; you need a lot of work.
Basically (and those images are quite basic), you're taking images, changing the opacity/color, and adding text...

That said, you can come back from the pit of simplicity... Here are a few pointers, to get you started.

1. Experiment with the pen tool. I used it in my signature below, and here are the settings I usually use:
2 px white brush, after stroking the pen line, I set the layer effects to Outer Glow (using a color in the sig), and a Drop Shadow, though I reduce the shadow some.

2. Don't just use the default gradient maps (if you're not using them, by the way, DO IT.), make some of your own! Different color combinations can be helpful in every situation.

3. C4Ds are great for helping a beginner grasp basic effects, and can come in handy when you have negative space.

4. Don't. Use. Text.
Make the sig without text, then add it afterward if it looks right.

5. Add lighting with the dodge/burn tools, and make a light source with a soft brush.

6. Sharpen/blur adds depth, which is being able to see what is closer to you.

7. You don't usually want to use more than one render per sig, it makes adding effects properly more difficult.

8. I almost forgot; clipping masks are very helpful as well.

Keep practicing! Smile

Sorry if I was slightly rude; you can ignore this post if you want, but I'm only trying to help...

I loved them! Noob question. Do you need to pay for Adobe Photoshop CS3 and how much?
Need to? Legally, yes. About 400-700$

Nahhh you're not being rude. I like people giving me advice. I'll take your advice on board. I'll have a play around in a bit. Thanks. Big Grin

I'll think I'll hold off my photoshopping career for now then.Big Grin

I still feel bad about being so mean, so I'm going to say nice things now. xD

For simplistic sigs, they're actually quite nice, though rather bland to my eyes, since I've been on Planetrenders, seeing stuff like.... well, this.

(Now this isn't to say that I like signatures with over-the-top effects, but when it's lacking effects, I notice it.)

So, for whatever style you're using, they're quite okay, but if you want to improve, then read my advice. Smile
