Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough in that dusty bin. Sometimes that game turns out to be awesome... In my case, it was a game called Conan, an apparent throwaway developed for the 360.
Sure, the levels are strictly point A to point B affairs, but where the game shined was in the most important place of all; combat. Mash fests like God of War can rightly **** off when faced with combat that actually has dynamics to it of disarming, counter-parries, and relation of chosen weapon style vs. foe.
But most of all? It was satisfying on a very visceral level. Cleaving foes in twain, decapitations and disembowelment. The way Conan fought, the way he even walked radiated both power and savagery. Nothing flashy about violence as it is... though it did take it's liberties with an over-the-top move or two.
Did I mention Conan is so awesome he can disembowel you with his bare hand?
