Considering Nintendo didn't exactly do anything special in terms of online options or features in what is undoubtedly its biggest game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it is interesting to see the company embrace the online experience in Mario Kart Wii much more than it has in any game before. Among these features is a "Mario Kart Channel", much like the one with Wii Fit which will be accessible at all times, even when the game is not in your disc drive.

In the channel you will be able to register new friend codes, check the online status of friends you have already registered, and even take a look at rankings, something which will sadly not be in Brawl. Nintendo will also have "Competitions" going on which are online missions much like the ones that were present in Mario Kart DS. And if all that wasn't already good enough you will also be able to download ghost data of other players and race against them to see how you stack up.

While it's great to see Nintendo finally opening up to online gaming it's a shame that some if not all of these features could have been present in Smash Bros. Hopefully this will open the door for future online enabled Wii games to do the same or even surpass what Nintendo has planned for Mario Kart.

Why not make Brawl so super ubër perfect.

No lets do it on Mario Kart, when Double Dash was a fail.

Double Dash!! was far from a fail and I personally really liked it. Probably would've been nice to have had this in Brawl but at least Mario Kart has it and I'm sure future games will too.

I was one of the few that liked Double Dash as well but I would have preferred a Brawl channel much more than this. Still, I don't want to complain about it just in case they actually listen to us and delay the game in NA again just to include it! Nooooooooooo, 3 more days. Let it finally be released.

The release is almost near, so no further delays. But this does seem like a really cool feature for MKWii makes the game more interesting. The game still appears to lack polish though.

Well, it makes sense that they'd be pushing for great online in this Mario Kart game. I mean look at how well Mario Kart DS did, that's probably there biggest reason for focusing on MK.

MarioKart is like the biggest game around on DS, despite the fact it has been out for about 2 years now, maybe even longer. Still, it would have been nice to have something extra for Brawl online.

Well you have to remember that Sakurai was responsible for Brawl. The team working on Mario Kart Wii has nothing to do with the team that brought you Brawl. The online for Brawl could of been better, but hey we must look forward to the awesome online in Kart.

ya ya... i guess. i jus hope that they follow thru and make sure the online play is better.... that's all im worried about.

I just hope this is faster, Double Dash just felt slow to me.

I'll be satisfied if online is at least somewhat good. At this point I don't wanna bother wondering what Nintendo was thinking. Who knows.

IGN have been hinting at reviews in the 7s at the moment. They claim the game doesn't feel as unique, it hasn't got anything new in it they makes it fantastic. I think the online mode will make or break this game .

I absolutly loved DD! I can't wait till this comes out. I think this game will be great with Wi-Fi!

I HOPE it's great with wifi but after playing Brawl I'm not too optimistic about it. I really do want to play this online with the rest of you guys though, more so than Brawl.

Nintendo will always lack in its online functions, but then again this game should still be fun. Only 10 days until I have my hands on it .

Yea, the 27th is coming up fast, I never thought it would've been this close to Brawl release, and I also think GTAIV will beat it in sales for sure.
