Notes:
- 176% increase in Wii sales in the last week.
- Culture Shock: While consoles account for 64% of hardware sold in North America last week, handhelds took a 63% share in Japan, while it is practically a 50/50 split in other territories (handhelds with a slight edge).
- This week's Flashback:
2006 - EA's shooter Black debuts selling nearly 130,000 units on the PS2.
2005 - Devil May Cry 3 hits the PS2 to the tune of 150,000 sold.

*Wii Debuts:
- Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed - 16,708 (#57)
- Sega Bass Fishing - 8,603 (#88)
Now that's the turn around that was inevitable from the Wii. Probably those buying a Nintendo Brawl... I mean... Wii >_>
Lol I could have sworn someone said Brawl wouldn't have an affect on the overall sales. Someone should put their foot in their mouth. :p
Wow, Wii even sold out the DS.

Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawl
I'm kinda saddened Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Style didn't fare better.

It's a Wii exclusive, and even if the series is stretched a little beyond its means at this point, had it done well, it might've encouraged more "real" Wii exclusives in kind.

Here's hoping Force Unleashed does better!

i am surprised it didnt do better, it looks really good, maybe everybody is broke or saving thier money to buy two copies of brawl (just in case) Smile

The spike in Wii sales had little to do with the impending release of Brawl, more to do with the number of Wiis available.
Is that so? Now why is there an increased number of Wiis and why are we just now getting them?

[edit]

Aside from that, the game comes out in two days so I guess we'll also see sales increase this week and next week as well. If this was only due to having "extra Wii consoles" in stores then slap my silly and call me Bob, but I highly doubt we won't see a spike in the Wii's upcoming sales.
The release of brawl could affect Wii sales for this weekend, mainly because a few stores are guaranteeing XX number of Wii's available at midnight with Brawl.
Nice one Wii. The Wii hasn't been doing to good for the past few weeks so it's nice to see a swift turn around on their side.
I can't believe Wii play outsold COD4.

And I hate me some frontlines.

It took me 6 shots with a sniper to kill someone that was on the floor not doing anything DDDDD:

I posted in last week's thread that there were a number of retailers stockpiling Wiis and then suddenly unloaded them resulting in about ~150k moving last Sunday alone.

I do expect there would be a sales spike due to the release of Smash Bros. (again, pending supply), however that usually tends to occur after the game has been released.

Yeah, I saw that. I was just pointing out the fact that it's a peculiar time to release the consoles seeing as it's a week before Brawl's release. Fishy?

Also, it'd be kind of dumb to go out and buy the console when everyone else is rushing to get one.

Way to go, Nintendo! Way to turn it around!
