I'm not sure what annoys me more: the fact that this poor guy was duped by some jerk who decided to sell him a $400 chunk of firewood, or that the writer from ABC calls the item "A Wii game" repeatedly in her article about the incident. You write for ABC, don't you think you could have possibly researched the situation enough to know that the Wii is called a "console" and not a "game?" Do your job, you illiterate trollop.
Anyway, the incident is sadly not a new trend, but of course it's no less distressing for people when it actually happens to them. An Arizona resident won the console on eBay in February, paid $400 for it, and received a Wii box with a block of wood in it shortly thereafter. He filed a complaint with eBay, who found the seller's account had promptly been closed after the transaction took place. They are currently conducting an investigation into the fraud.

OMG I would be so mad. I'd use that log to go and take on my frustractions on a certain seller

wow...
i hope that dude sues or something...
Suing is pointless. Too many people think suing is the answer to every problem in the country. If they find the wood seller he'll be dealt with by eBay including forced to pay back the money he was paid by the buyer. That money would be returned to the buyer. He'll break even, but very, very unlikely he'll get more than he paid.
Instead of being sued, the seller should be dragged through the streets by his hair for being such a douche. Falsely selling something like a video game console based on its hype is just friggin' evil.
I think if this transation took place in 2 different states (selling in one state, buyer in another), then the feds will be called.
I don't know the details on how eBay works. I suppose the "feds" would get inolved. Whatever the case this dirtbag needs to pay.
At least he can make a nice warm fire...
Lol. Oh know I'd be so gutted if that happened to me. That's why I'm not even going to bother trying to get a 360 on Ebay for cheaper. I couldn't trust it enough to buy something that expensive.
Man, that's just terrible. Why do people need to be so heartless?
Its harsh, but I can't help but laugh at the fact someone bought a block of wood for $400. lol
Infuriating and funny at the same time. I assume he paid via paypal (or some other online method). I guess this is a lesson to all to never buy used stuff online without some kind of guarantee, even if it is just an address to send payment to. At least that way you know they had to receive it there, and if you're ambitious enough you can hunt them down.
I had a cousin get ripped off on some software on an auction site. The person who ripped them off refunded the money after some time and phone calls were made. It was lucky the kid did, as my cousin's husband was getting ready to take a trip to his house (which turned out to be only a couple 100 miles away), locked and loaded. Kids, think before you scam..
This is so funny yet a little sad, mostly funny though.
That's why I always choose reliable sellers.
Got mine from zjoker6!
I think he's reliable.
Wow thats crazy sucks for da person that got the wood and lucky for the person that got the cash.
Its harsh, but I can't help but laugh at the fact someone bought a block of wood for $400. lol
QFT! hahahaha I find this hilarious
That's just cold. Poor guy must have been stoked to be getting a wii. Until he opened the box. I can only imagine the look on his face. I never use eBay myself.. I just don't like bidding or buying from random people. Never know what you're gonna get.
It's pretty freakin' funny, but if that happened to me a year back whenI got my Wii, i'd be f*ckin' pissed out of my mind!
Yea, I hope he get's his "Wii Game" though.
I'd laugh if the guy actually painted "Wii" on the wood XD.
