Full Version: Stage Builder Sharing/Discussion
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
This thread will be to solely discuss/ask questions about stage builder and share your stages.

Unlocking Parts:
Spoiler: (hover to reveal the text)
Edit Parts B: create 5 stages (Ice Block, Additional Feature Each Background)
Edit Parts C: create 15 stages (Treadmill, Addtional Feature Each Background)
Edit Parts A: Brawl 10 Times on Created Stages (Spring Platform, Additional Feature Each Background)

Impressions:
Overall I have to say I'm a tad disappointed by the lack of stuff in stage builder.  I hate that some parts are background specific, and it seems some of the amount of space required for certain parts is overkill.  I'd have like to seen the ability to use any background in the game (including scrolling stages), as well as the addition of some more game related extras (brick blocks, coin blocks, rounded boulders, walls, more moveable objects, other old school themed stuff, and the addition of enemies {Goombas, Turtles, etc.}).

It's not too big a deal, and what they included will extend the replay a ton for me.  I will admit I'm impressed by the small amount of space all these saves take up, as well as how quickly they load from SD cards.  All Wii game developers should take note of this.

Sharing Stages:
I will write up instruction on how to share stages for your fellow Wiiloaded members when I verify how (if people are interested).  Someone else is more than welcome to if they have the time (please include details on directories on SD Card, how to zip, virus protection, etc.).  If we could have a rating system while maintaining a database, that would be cool as well.  That will more than likely be up to the Mods though.
Note - If you post a stage, please include the creator of the stage, stage name, and a brief description of it [size, layout (flat, vertical, square, etc.), perils, how it plays, etc.].
Yeah...I agree with you.

The addition of a stage builder was a cool idea, but I wish the options weren't lacking so much. I haven't unlocked any new sets of parts to use, but from your analysis it is not that big of a deal. Adds a few extra elements to a game chalked full of levels already.
*Stuck

Since I don't have an SD card, you can take the stage and send it too me : D

Im sending most people my first stage I made, its freaking awesome.
Yeah, I'll have to post my code and add you guys. Perhaps someone you send your stage to with an SD card will upload it here.
Have you created any stages yet? RaphaelTMNT is using his created stage for the finals.
I've created 16 stages so far.  Some crazy, some functional, and some a combination of the two.  I'll likely create a bunch more, but I'll only post the ones I really like.

I'll try to post one tomorrow as a test if I can figure it out... and don't forget.
Give me a FC, and send your favs?
I might/should have my friend code by late tomorrow. My internet situation is too confusing to explain right now. It should be all cleared up in a couple months though.
OMG Saffron City Remake from Smash 64!

Looks pretty cool, too bad the Pokemon can't pop out!
Two things:

First, to send stages to people via the Wii you have to have their Brawl FC AND their Wii code. UGH! Maybe we should set up a Wii Code exchange for this as well? Like, show Brawl FCs and Wii codes together? Cuz right now I can only send them to Cloud, Kindrik, Dume, and Pizzaturdel Sad

Second, what's the deal with the points thing when sending stuff? I just sent a stage out and at the bottom it said "Points needed to send this data: 1 (20 remaining)" When I sent it, it went down to 19 remaining. where do these points come from?
First Wiiloaded stage sharing test.  I have no idea what stage this is, but someone try it out.

Steps
1. Download the .zip file and scan with virus scanner (McAfee or Norton for example). If no viruses are found unzip the compressed file and save it to your SD card or computer. (See below for SD card directory)

2. Save the unzipped file to your SD card in the following folder:
\private\wii\app\RSBE\st\filename.bin
(warning: do not try to open or manipulate these files on your pc!  I can't vouge for what everyone posts on here.)

3. Insert SD card in Wii and fire up Brawl.

4. Go start a match, search in the custom stages section.  You might have to select SD card or something.

I noticed when I was sending vids of my Ike to ppl :p

I only had 4 people too send too...

Which clearly means we need to set up a Brawl FC/Wii Code exchange where the two are together.

Anyone know about the points?
I downloaded a stage from IGN.. worked well/was simple. The stage was terrible though.
I've uploaded my stage to IGN with 5 screenshots. Let me know what you guys think and if you've got an IGN account, vote for it please. Smile

You used an idea I wanted to implement, Kindrik. I thought a floor of spikes would be a great idea; I'm glad to see other people think that too.

My friend and I made a similar stage, though much simpler, which consists of three "levels." On the bottom is a floor of spikes every other space with a few ladders between them, in the middle are 5 vertical oscillating platforms, and on the top is a simple platform with a smaller platform on each side separated by a small gap.

I don't have the necessary hardware to share / screenshot any of it, unfortunately.

My favorite stage that I've made, aside from a huge collection of springs, is an entirely encased "cage" so to speak, with small holes which allow for the occasional escape. The highest number of bank-shots I've gotten in one strike has to be 4 surfaces. People don't usually die until about the 300-400%, unless you're really good at launching someone directly up into the hole in the ceiling.
I made a stage using spikes and a solid platform. Bowser got trapped betwwen the two, and didn't get out until he had over 700 damage. I don't think I'll be breaking that record anytime soon on accident.
it's pretty easy to get the computer stuck in a spike trap cause they are always chasing you. You could be doing free for all with you and 3 cpu's and they all still follow you around the map. I got all 4 of us @ 999% Smile
