Notes:
- SSBB's huge sales more than double the previous record for debut week for a Wii game in NA formerly held by Super Mario Galaxy (654,807). However, it comes nowhere near last year's best overall debut week held by Halo 3 which sold over 2.8 million copies in its first week.
- This week last year: God of War II debuts in the top spot selling over 540,000 copies on the PS2.

*Wii debuts:
- House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return - 15,455 (#57)
Great sales for SSBB, but I honestly thought there would be much higher Wii sales. Was there really only 127,330 Wii systems to be had this week in our vast country? Crazy...that's the only word that comes to mind.
There have been big Wii sales the last two weeks as well, people getting in early for Brawl.

Anyway. Doesn't matter if the Wii's sales aren't as massive as expected, they came out on top of the other two consoles.
The amount of games SSBB sold is just ridiculous. I expected it to sell a lot but even I'm surprised by that amount. Comparing the top selling game and the second top selling game in that list is just...

Yeah, I thought the same.  It has to be true, as I don't see any Wii's sitting on store shelves...  And stores obviously don't have back rooms full of Wii's.  For whatever reason (manufacturing cost, marketing, worldwide demands, all of the above), Nintendo has done little to meet the demand for their tiny console.

Wow; that's a lot of copies sold of Brawl! I too knew it would sell alot, but didn't realise the numbers would be that high lol. And nice one, the DS and the Wii have taken the top two spots in the hardware chart. Smile
It should have sold 2 million copies but it is solid
Smash just raped.
Brawl will be in the top 10 for awhile, it wouldn't suprise me if it became the number one game around christmas.
Who the hell is still buying wii play
Some of the new Wii owners every week who go "Looky that game has Wii in the title, it must be like Wii Sports. And looky it comes with another controller..." yea >.>

right now they are making about 1.8 million Wii's every month. so about 500,000 are coming into the US each month, which leaves 1.3 million for the rest of the world

I used to be pretty critical of people who were buying Wii Play, but honestly I say it to be worth $10 for the game and the rest for the controller. Tanks! alone makes up the $10 with the other games pitching in anything from a penny to a dollar.
Super Smash ought to be a wake up call to Nintendo. Making games that appeal to both casual and hardcore types results in mucho dinero!
I just bought Wii Play off of eBay...15 bucks only. I think it is solid. Plus the tanks are so addicting damnnnn
