Finally! Finally we get to know how exactly those crazy folks at Vicarious Visions will realize an authentic Guitar Hero-experience on Nintendos popular Handheld. The answer has a name: Guitar Grip! And it looks very promising! It's more or less kind of a shell-grip-controller-hybrid and fits in the GBA-Slot of the DS (either the game is only compatible to the DS lite, or there must be two versions) and covers pretty much of the handhelds back. It also has a strap for your hand to assure a good hold and enough freedom for your fingers to rock on!Guitar Hero On Tour - Nintendo DS

The game is played with one hand in the guitar grip, holding the DS sideways - Hotel Dusk- and Kawashima-Style. The non-touchscreen shows the usual GH-"music-highway” with the indicators for the button-presses. Strumming is done with a pick (seems like it comes bundled) on the touchscreen. The gameplay itself seems absolutely the same as previous Guitar Hero iterations. You perform perfect note-strings, gain multipliers, gain star power, use star power and feel pretty damn cool. The screens even indicate a working tremolo. We wonder how this works. You absolutely have to check out the video at the bottom of this page of this news. It pretty much shows the real deal, even if it is a bit too casual for our taste. But hey, it is Guitar Hero! And it seems to rock the DS. That's what matters! Now the only thing left to do is playing the waiting game. Guitar Hero On Tour will be released sometime in summer '08. Oh curse you, waiting game!

I'm up for it. But one problem...my fingers will have the response time of a bear...
WTF...

What will the quality of the music be like on DS? How many tracks will there be? No doubt this is ambitious.
I saw this also and I thought one thing. This looks weird.
Plug in some headphones and the DS has some great audio quality.

I guess I'll actualy have to buy the game...
But the hand placement seems weird.

My left had will be outstreched towards my right side so I'll be able to see the screen... Yup.. weird.

If the tracks aren't impresive I'll just stick with GH3 for PC.
Rawr's right. Through headphones that'll be great. I'm sure it'll sound pretty crappy through the DS speakers.
Like LMX said it's really ambitious and I do think they nailed the peripheral even if it only has 4 buttons. I don't think 5 could've worked here.
I really want this game provided the price is right. And lets hope there is online play.
Well Elite Beat Agents had a good selection and fairly good music quality. I'm more worried about the odd things they'll throw in. In the video the guy is blowing on the DS. Apparently during the battle mode you can set the other player's guitar on fire and you have to blow it out. Hopefully the oddities end around that point. I'm still excited about the game though.

God. I've become a GH whore ... oh well. Could be worse.
Well, the way its going. GH is the new whore franchise. Whoring itself out whenever it can.
At least it isn't Guitar Hero: Aerosmith DS or something and instead something closer to the main franchise.
im getting this no matter what. i hope there is some online play too, but that might be wishful thinking
Wow, I'm such a GH whore. I'll probably be getting this. XD There just sooooooo fun. D:
Jam Sessions proved that the touch screen can make a good strummer and that good sound quality can happen...
i saw this and i was like OMG I GOTTA HAVE IT! but im a little skeptical in the whole grip thing. honestly i wasnt expecting it although i totally knew there wasnt going to be a guitar for it. i mean really, whos gunna be able to have a guitar big or small for the DS to tote around?? that would be excessive.

i gotta give the company props though for creative imaginations. will i get this? more than likely if i can find a cheap place to buy the guitar/finger button cartridge online minus the game (i can obtain the game in other forms)
