Let's conjure up all the fuzzy feelings from Nintendo's heavy hitters. More importantly, what keeps us coming back to the same damn game?

Mario? Galaxy singlehandedly renewed my interest in him. Captured the magic of Mario 64 while evolving what I'd dare to say the best example of 3D platforming to date.

Link? Twilight Princess felt like it was trying too hard to recapture the awesome of OOT. Unless something really interesting happens, it'll hold status as my last Zelda game ever played.

Samus? Honestly haven't tried Prime 3 yet so no comment.

The others like Fire Emblem and such I won't mention either, but I will say that Starfox seems to have sunken even farther than poor old Sonic the Hedgehog could have ever dreamed (and that's saying a lot, as Sonic Rush 2 had thinly veiled threats of underage molestation).
Umm, what? Is this thread to reminisce about Nintendo's big Wii games?

Paper Mario was too simplistic/easy.

Galaxy revived what was beginning to become a dead franchise to me, and brought me back to an experience I haven't had while gaming for many, many years.

Twilight Princess was the sequel I wanted to OoT. I agree the formula is starting to get a bit stale though.

While Metroid Prime 3 was good in terms of what a FPS can be on the Wii, it failed to completely recapture the original Prime. I thought it was somewhere inbetween Prime and Prime 2, not close to either. I'm glad to see the franchise take a hiatus.

Mario Party was Mario Party, Warioware was Warioware. Nothing really unexpected.
Mario Galaxy? I never bought the game, but enjoyed it while I rented it. A good fun game honestly, probably the Wii's best. After the sheer disgust of Mario Sunshine I was pretty done with our favourite Italian stereotyped plumber. But Galaxy revived some childhood memories of mine as well as gave me brand new ones. Great game.

Twilight Princess? I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. Its just TOO much like Ocarina of Time as Badwrong mentioned. At least Wind Waker took a step in a new direction (and it kicked ass too might I add). The forumla is starting/already has gone stale... I'd like to hope Nintendo can save Zelda when the Wii version comes out in a few years, but time will tell. Although personally I wouldn't mind if Zelda took a MUCH NEEDED hiatus.

Metroid Prime 3? It is a great game, I loved it far more than stale old Echoes, but not quite as much as Prime 1 or ANYWHERE near as much as the supreme Super Metroid. But having said that its the Wii title I've played most. I enjoyed the much more epic attempt at a storyline... really helped. But there's no doubting the whole opening felt like Halo, lol.

Paper Mario? Never even went near it. But I was tempted.
Games like Smash, F-Zero and Mario Kart can't and won't change very much iteration to iteration, that's understood, but I'd murder to get an online F-Zero game on the Wii in any reasonable amount of time.
Online F-Zero would be ultimate win. I love F-Zero.
It has to happen, I'm almost certain it will. If Nintendo doesn't do I'll be mortified or if they even make it P2P D:
*Drolls over online F - Zero*

Galaxy was awesome but didn't hold me quite as long as I thought it would.
Zelda was good but could have been a lot better.
Metroid is probably my favourite Wii game still, not as good as Prime though, but better than Echoes (Although I really liked Echoes as well).
Super Paper Mario wasn't bad but not as good as the Thousand Year Door.

I just hope Nintendo doesn't go TOO casual from now on. And the next Zelda game or one of the next ones should be Serenity's Edge xDBig Grin
