After some close speculation, it was announced that one of the past year's hottest games, Harmonix Music System's ROCK BAND will be seeing the light of day on Nintendo Wii.

For anyone who has never graced the beauty of ROCK BAND, then please allow this reporter to recommend you to do just that, as once he had played this game with two friends, he was hooked. This is truly the revolutionary title of the 2000s era and it is only right that it see the most successful gaming platform of the "current gen".

ROCK BAND will be released in the US and Canada on June 22, 2008 for a suggested retail price of a reasonable $169.99. The Wii version will be a Special Edition pack featuring the usual ensemble of 63 songs, plus 5 extra "Wii only" tracks for us to sing, strum and beat along to! As of yet, there is no confirmation of a European or Australian release date.

"The Wii's success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in ROCK BAND,"

Bob Picunko, Vice President of Electronic Games and Interactive Products, MTV

With over 40 awards under its belt since its launch, it's no wonder why the company want to bring it to Nintendo's home console. That, and the outstanding soundtrack that encompasses the whole purpose of the game is what makes ROCK BAND stand out from the crowd. Thunderous rock anthems such as "Learn to Fly" by the Foo Fighters and "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins as well as a whole host of downloadable tracks keep the players (and believe us, this game requires the plural!) coming back for more, in itself inspiring an epic replay-ability factor. One must ask, however, if we will be seeing the aforementioned downloadable content on the Wii version.

well ill be gettign this on the 22nd then just in time for my b-day
I'm not liking the sounds of this gimped Wii port. But really who expected all that awesome online and stuff for a console like the Wii?

Probably skipping it. If I get it, it'll be for my PS3.
The PS3 version is excellent. But still, this is still a candle in the darkness.
It was until they announced that there will be no dlc and no online mode. It may be an April Fool's joke and I hope for all Wii owner's sake that it is.

what kind of game is this again exactly Smile

OMG! I can't believe I typed that! Wait, that's an l (L) for DLC (downloadable content). Dirty minded people!! Toungue
i may need glasses... so i can see your dlc clearly Smile Smile Smile
I've seen the 360 version in action and it looked awesome! I'm not sure if I'd buy it though, because it will be expensive as you have to buy the different instruments separately don't you?
amazon has the whole box for $147 thats mic, drums, guitar, game i think
I think the Wii version should be priced a little more reasonable if it's not going to have some of the features the others have. I think a $129.99 price point would be more appropriate.
not gonna happen but i like the idea
wii owners should jus band together and not buy it until they agree to put some dLc, online play, or lower the price.
I already have it for the 360 (along with plenty of accessories, like a drum stool and multi-way adjustable mic stand) and two wireless GHIII gibson guitars (did not like the RB strat), so there is no way I'm dropping this much money on another version just for the Wii!

That's not a bad price then actually if you get all of that included.
