Full Version: No Online Modes for Wii Rock Band

Ever since it was discovered that Harmonix would be treating us to a Wii version of their massive music hit ROCK BAND, everybody was excited. But just as we get the price and release date, a bit of bad news comes with it as well. Harmonix has made the decision, for the time being, to leave downloadable content and online modes out of the Wii version of ROCK BAND...

"Regarding downloadable content: During Rock Band for the Wii development Harmonix focused on making the core gameplay experience as solid and enjoyable as possible while tailoring it specifically to the strengths of the platform. The Wii version still contains the robust four-player band experience and all the fun at the core of other versions of Rock Band. However, because the Wii’s online capabilities and potential have yet to be fully realized, we wanted to wait before we explored online functionality for Rock Band to ensure that players get the high-quality of online performance they’ve come to expect." - EA/Harmonix

Well that was quite a bad kick in the teeth for people who were planning on rockin' out with their friends from around the globe. I suppose a lot of people could live without downloadable content, but no online modes at all seems harsh. On the other hand, there is still faith, considering Harmonix stated that they are going to wait before exploring the online modes. So fingers crossed that they sort something out.

Bummer...this is why I'll be getting it for my 360. XD
Seriously?? WTF?!
Not really surprised by this at all.
I'm pleased. This could mean that the people that want the full experience buy the proper versions of the game on the PS3 and 360. Hopefully this means that Nintendo might be able to figure out what we want out of their online system, but I doubt we'll see that day.

Either way, I'll be looking forward to play this game on my future 360 or PS3.

I'm not suprised by the lack of downloadable content, but no online modes at all just sucks. GHIII managed it just fine, why can't ROCK Band pull it off?

Maybe this'll convince Nintendo to take a stronger stance on online play.
No online is seriously ftl. What a crap move they've made there.

Lol. Yay, no online FTW!

Haha, you meant ftl right?

Whoops! Yes I meant ftl lol.
how much did MS/Sony pay them to do that? Toungue
Too much. I think that there wouldn't be any well done online options anyway.
No.....ONLINE? WHAT THE HELL?!

I was going to buy it but forget that >_<
hate to sound like a broken record, but april fools?
Seriously, lame. Someone needs to get the Wii off the no-fly list.

The possibility of this being a joke could be true

but I don't think harmonix would mess with us like that >_>

Anyone remember Nintendo talking about a paid online service that's supposed to be better then their free one? Maybe they're waiting for that.

Otherwise, like all news reported this close to April.. be weary of being made Fools.

I hope so but knowing Nintendo's track record of not giving their fans what they want this is probably true. Sad
