After many months of waiting, Nintendo has finally launched its
Xbox Live Arcade rival service, "
WiiWare" in Japan.
WiiWare, which allows for underground as well as large developers create small games for commercial download on Wii goes live today with an initial array of nine games to choose from. The price list extends from as little as 500 to as steep as 1500 Wii Points, the latter being only for the much talked about, spin-off game
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King.
Here is the full list of launch titles:
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (1500 Wii Points)
- Okiraku Ping Pong (500 Wii Points)
- Lonpos (1000 Wii Points)
- Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan (1000 Wii Points)
- Dr. Mario (1000 Wii Points)
- Star Soldier R (800 Wii Points)
- Saku Saku Animal Panic (1000 Wii Points)
- Tenshi Solitaire (500 Wii Points)
- Pokémon Ranch (1000 Wii Points)
The WiiWare service is set to launch in North America on May 12, 2008, with no date set as of yet for a European launch. I believe this promises us a lot more originality from the console in the future, with high quality, user-developed content popping up regularly in our Wii Shop Channels.

I'm really interested in the Final Fantasy game and will be looking for a review of it. The others don't look tempting at the moment but I don't really know much about them. There are some videos floating around at the moment showing off some of these games but I haven't taken the time to watch them yet.
It's true, the Final Fantasy game has caught most of my attention as well. I'll be looking forward to seeing some decent original games as well though, like that stick figure guy from Sony.
What was it called?
I really hope Wiiware takes off and does great. Creative/fun games will always sell well and hopefully this service will encourge "the little people" to get out and make some great games for the Wii.

I think line rider when I here stick figure, but that's not made from Sony. But I'm looking forward to LostWinds and LIT because both titles are unique and look cool.
Stick figure? Echochrome??
