Could Nintendo be dabbling further into their supposed dream of paid online services? It appears so with the latest announcement from Japan and WiiWare. When a user downloads Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, Mojipittan or LonPos, they are greeted with an on-screen message explaining that "some parts of the game, including expansion packs and other services, may require extra Wii Points."
Many of us will have already been informed of Nintendo's latest interest in paid online with its upcoming Pay and Play service, but it appears that they are already warning of such a thing to occur in WiiWare downloads. None of the other six launch titles in Japan this week have the said on-screen message.
While the thoughts of future game expansions and add-ons sounds quite delectable to the senses, one must still show a curiosity to just how much these expansions will cost to the consumer, and whether they will be payable via Wii Points, credit card, or both. There are no such expansions or add-ons available as of today, but we will keep you informed of any announcements in future.
