Could Nintendo be dabbling further into their supposed dream of paid online services? It appears so with the latest announcement from Japan and WiiWare. When a user downloads Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, Mojipittan or LonPos, they are greeted with an on-screen message explaining that "some parts of the game, including expansion packs and other services, may require extra Wii Points."

Many of us will have already been informed of Nintendo's latest interest in paid online with its upcoming Pay and Play service, but it appears that they are already warning of such a thing to occur in WiiWare downloads. None of the other six launch titles in Japan this week have the said on-screen message.

While the thoughts of future game expansions and add-ons sounds quite delectable to the senses, one must still show a curiosity to just how much these expansions will cost to the consumer, and whether they will be payable via Wii Points, credit card, or both. There are no such expansions or add-ons available as of today, but we will keep you informed of any announcements in future.

Let the microtransactions begin. Nintendo better get their online act together if they plan on getting people to jump aboard the WiiWare train. I'm not sure if I'd pay for these so called addons for the WiiWare even if I could and I definitely wouldn't pay to play any game online on my Wii with the way it is now. With all that said and done will anyone who has any GH III packs for the PS3 share the love!!! I'll love you long time!
I hope that Nintendo at least make do on what they're saying.
I read someplace that the clothing you can buy for the FF game won't actually do anything special, so that kind of sucks. I think Nintendo will be walking a tight rope with Wii-Ware, and I hope they don't try nickel and diming everyone to the point where people tell them to shove off.

Making money is fine, but being greedy will only piss of your customers Nintendo.
I pretty sure the microtransactions are going to be between 100-300 wii points for My Life as a King. I wrote something about that here.
Well that's good, at least they're not as high as 500 Points.
But the best would be free.
Haha, don't get your hopes up ZeldaFan.
With Nintendo, I don't usually get my hopes up too high so they don't get crushed with happens a lot.Sad
Isn't it just amazing how Nintendo are the only gaming company that happen to pull that off so often?
Most of the microstransations from MMOs I play normally don't do much of anything. Clothing is just for looks normally and you can sometimes have a pet that may or may not do something. Now they do sometimes have an item that will give you 2x exp for an hour, 2 hours, day, or a month though.
So really in this case it's no different from other microstransations, some stuff you have to pay for may be useless and sometimees they're helpful.
