Full Version: First Sign Of WiiWare Demoes?

One of WiiWare's Japanese launch titles, Dr. Mario's Virus Buster, has a special surprise in store for the buyer and their friends. This comes in the form of, wait for it, a demo!

The original downloader of the game can use a special function within the software to send a free trial version of it to the people in their Wii Friend Book. This demo is quite limited however, and only allows the user to play a game of classic Dr. Mario online with their friends provided a special Dr. Mario friend code has been added. There is no single-player option in the free demo.

This really makes you wonder, could this be a new trend from Nintendo or just a once off? Perhaps this is a test to see how well consumers will react to the demoes. There is no announcement yet on whether this offer will stay forever or is just a trial in itself.

That's kinda cool...seems like it'd be a bit of a hassle though really.
Yeah with being online at the same time and of course those FC. Why can't WW titles use the Wii FC?

Exactly what I wanted to know.

So let me get this straight. After you buy a WiiWare title you can then send demos of it to people on your buddy list???
To games it applies to, yes. Dr. Mario is the only WiiWare title to have this feature so far, there will probably be more to come later.

I'm OVER 8000
Oh I see. So it could possibly be a one time deal or they could just be testing the waters. Remember me guys when you pick up this game so I can "test" it too! Toungue
It's a great idea having demos. There should also be video previews within the Wii Shop channel Toungue.
Even though it seems like a hassle, at least we might be getting demos.
