Think back to when a few screens of a certain hedgehog were released which were then quickly followed by a trailer. SEGA had no choice but to quickly confirm the game’s existence. Not many of us were brave enough to deny it in the first place after the leak; however, soon after confirmation new questions arose.

The big question on everyone's lips was will this game be a Wii title? The screens were very impressive looking and many of us doubted that the Wii could pull it off but in today's press release the game has been confirmed for the Nintendo Wii among many other consoles. No Wii screens have been shown as of yet but stay tuned.

The press release also revealed the new 'Hedgehog Engine' which supplies 2D game-play in a 3D rendered environment which would be a smart move for SEGA as many fans believe that Sonic has been going downhill since his jump to 3D.

Another factor mentioned was the brief covering of Wolf Sonic which seems semi-confirmed:
"As the sun sets in Sonic Unleashed, a different type of adventure will awaken in Sonic's newest quest ..."
This is shaping up to be a good game in my book, how about yours?

Again, not a big fan of Sonic either, not after Secret Rings anyway, but I'm really looking forward to this.
If this doesn't turn out well, Sega needs to put Sonic to rest.
I really hope this is good. I've been craving a good Sonic game lately.

Never. Sonic's lived this long. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. Hell, they're making an RPG based on the hedgehog. Sega's not one to give up (besides the Dreamcast).

The game sounds like another typical Sonic 3D game so far aside from the "Hedgehog Engine". That may actually make the game good. Otherwise they're just introducing a new gimmick to the game which adds little to no entertainment to it, just like Shadow using weapons, the Silver telekinetic hedgehog or having three characters on the screen all at once while none of them control that well.

Umm...Well thing is its not 3D its 2D.5. It mixes both classic 2D sonic the hedgehog gameplay and 3D SATSR gameplay. What we dont want is the 3D crap that was on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and worrying about camera angles. This game doesnt seem to have problems from the camera so far. Sonic isnt going anywhere anytime soon. And if Sega goes bankrupt Nintendo will probably buy the franchise. If your saying that this game isnt so good and sonic should be put to rest then i guess that means the other franchises that arent as good as the originals should go too huh? Like StarFox and the Kirby series right? Please....enough with the Sonic hating. It gets old.

The only game i've ever played with Sonic in it is SSBB, and looking at the other Sonic Wii game, looks sorta, I dunno, unappealing.

So I dunno, SEGA better get their act together for this one.
I'm looking forward to this game and it's looking great. I think I'll like it in 2.5D instead of 3D and I did not enjoy Rings but that was mostly because of the controls.
I haven't really thought of the 3D Sonic games as 3D anyway. They always seemed rather 2D. Sure paths would go up and down, but you'd stay on that path for the most part. Only select levels would have you jump around on platforms, and that's when the games went bad. As long as it was restricted to running through a level, dodging or attacking enemies and following the path of rings, the game was fine, but when it tried to replicate Mario 3D platforming, it was just executed poorly, mostly because of one of the worst camera systems used in a game. If they stop trying to make a Mario game with Sonic, find a way to cut the camera issues and pick up the speed like Sonic was meant to be, the game will be great. Here's to hoping.
