Rumours of a new widescreen Nintendo DS and funky new Wii colours can be put to bed for now, as Ninty says it wants to concentrate on getting current models into new hands.

Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway told IGN there are no plans for DS redesign.

“What we’re focused on right now for DS is just getting it into the hands of more people.”

And who can blame them?

“When a piece of hardware that’s been out as long as DS is able to still grow in the double digits, it suggests there’s a lot of untapped market demand, particularly among new audiences,” Dunaway explained.

As for rumours of new multi-coloured cases for the Wii, the Nintendo bigwig said “We’re not thinking about further colours at this point.” Spoilsports.

I'll be slightly surprised if there aren't any new Wii colors or at least a couple new Wii Bundles around the end of November or Early December to boost holiday figures even though they don't really need it.
Nintendo doesn't need anything to boost sales, all the casual gamers get sucked into this stuff pretty easily.
I think the casual gamer might get scared away from something too new or some bundle, I dunno.
Nah, imagine a Wii Fit/Wii Bundle for Christmas. I bet it would sell like crazy.
Yea, that bundle probably would.
you know this doesn't shoot down rumors of a ds2, it just confirms that they are holding off on launch untill the sales figures for the current model have dwindled enough to effect ninty's profit margin.

ya gotta read between the lines Toungue
I think there are enough colors out there to suit everyone already.

The DS2 idea is possible, but not for another two years at least. I don't see DS sales dropping that much in that time, so it's quite possible we may never see a DS1.3 and go from the Lite to the completely new system. I'd kind of prefer that actually. I don't want to buy a Lite just to discover there's going to be a DS Nano coming out three months later.
Nintendo already did one cosmetic change to the DS (DS to DSLITE) so it makes sense. Hopefully the next DS or whatever it'll be called is a little more advanced and doesn't use the same tech from the gameboy advance and SP.
they don't need a new ds yet. I mean they still are selling good.
