I've found that when I delete stuff like photos or whatever off from my vista desktop, I can still do a search and find them. I can simply type in microsoft and under the files area, BAM there's my deleting stuff.

What program or procedure can I use to totally get rid of that info so I can't do a search and find info I've already sent to the recyling bin and emptied?
You could shred them with DAP if you wanted to clear all traces of them.
is DAP a program, because to me that means Download Accelerator Plus Smile See I use a flash drive to store a lot of things on, and I would take the flash drive out, run CCleaner, and think all the stuff was off the Vista computer, but like I said above, Vista is keeping a record that's I'd like to delete automatically somehow.
Yes, DAP is Download Accelerator Plus and I use it all the time but it also has the option to shred files as well. I haven't had this problem on Vista though so I'm not sure what is happened with yours. I'm still a Vista noob atm. D4rk can probably tell you since he's had it longer.
well thank you sir for your assistance, but I'd rather not download that program. I'll keep looking around for a program or solution in Vista, and in the mean time maybe others will chime in a suggestion or two.
The files aren't actually there, but they're still in your search index.

There's two ways you can deal with this.

1. Wait, eventually the indexer will realize the files are gone and update the index accordingly.

2. Search "Indexing Options" > Click > advanced ... > Rebuild Index.

Bare in mind that once the index has started being rebuilt your computer will run a little slower for a few days whilst the indexer goes through every file and indexes it.

As far as I know, there's no way to directly edit the index.
or you could turn off the indexer Toungue
empty the recycle bin

doesn't work, even after I tried what d4rk suggested, things are still showing up when I do a simple search. Vista doesn't want you to loose anything, but at some point that becomes annoying.

Oh i had that problem!

What i do is clean the hard-drive using either McAfee Security Center, or using the Disk Cleanup program already installed on Vista, after I use it all traces of deleted files are gone! Smile
