I'm looking for one or a few for my DS. Anyone know of any that are worth more than a rent? This could be applied to apply to both current and future releases.

Thanks in advance.
Fire Emblem DS will be out soon, that's like turn based strategy/RPG. And it has Marth.

Kingdom Hearts will get its DS title soon enough, that'll be an Action RPG.

The Mana games are always there for a try as well.
Mana games

FFXII Revanant Wings
FFIII
Don't get FF-III, it isn't as good as it should be. Revenant Wings isn't bad for a sequel, but still might be better off avoiding it.
there's a fire emblem for the DS coming out soon?

*goes to reseve copy*
The newest Mana game, Heroes I think, isn't the usual RPG, or usual Mana game either since most of them are really action/RPGs and not classic style RPGs. Operates more like an RTS if I remember correctly. May want to read reviews or rent it first. FF Crystal Chronicals came out and is better than the FFCC for the GC. Still not a typical RPG though. FF Tactics A2 is coming out and practically guaranteed to be friggin' awesome. I heard a lot of people say the Dragonquest game on the DS, DQM, is sort of a pokemon ripoff. Luminous Arc got decent reviews. Lunar Knights I've heard is good with good reviews. Magical Starsign is sort of an odd game, but I still really enjoyed it. Rune Factory was great, but may not be for you if you'll hate having to do a bit of farming (the main story only requires a very small amount of farming, but then it's not really long if you go through just the main story. Rondo of Swords looks great so far and should come out this month. BioWare's Sonic RPG may be worth a look. SquareEnix's action/RPG The World Ends With You got very good scores.

Are we going back to GBA as well? Because that list could take awhile to write out.
Yeah im gonna go pick up sonic chronicles. I wanna see what Bioware can do with the blue hedgehog.

Might as well. I've been bored lately, and probably shouldn't purchase any more games until I finish my current ones, but PH got boring near the fourth boss. I think that's where I'm at, anyway. (And Pokémon isn't an RPG.)

GOLDEN SUN

GOLDEN SUN: THE LOST AGES.

Buy them Dume. Buy them NOAW. (GBA games)

They are the best GBA games imo.

DAMN STRAIGHT! The whole reason I asked if we were going back to GBA was to recommend the Golden Sun games. They were absolutely amazing. No game has done RPG as well except Final Fantasy. Puzzles actually made you think, the Djinn added replay, especially since you could copy your data from the first game to the second (sort of) and continue the story which made the second game incredible. You HAVE to play them!

Oh yeah, I think Final Fantasy made a few games on the GBA too ...

Final Fantasy IV might be decent.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories?
Lunar Legends got me

but this isint a RPG but its a good TBS any or all Advance Wars games.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates is suppose to be really good. 1up.com gave it a 100/100.

1up.com Wrote:
It's balanced and has just the right loot curve, unlike games such as Champions of Norrath, which offer too many loot drops but nothing worth keeping. Come for the single-player appetizer, but stay for the multiplayer grandeur. Ring of Fates is a keeper.

1up gave it 100%?! WTF?! That'd oddly generous... I doubt the game can be that good, but now I'm curious...
I agree, that's really really high, but they must have found something that was really amazing about the game. The main theme that the reviews have about the game, at least according to metacritic.com is that the balance is right on.

I'll agree the balance of action and RPG was quite balanced for the time I played it, but I still wouldn't give it a perfect 100/100. Sure I didn't get to play it for long, but It just didn't have THAT much potential. 80-90/100 would've been more fitting, but whatever. We should all know that reviewers ahrdly ever score how we think they should.

For GBA FF games, FFIV and FFVI are two of the best Final Fantasy games ever made, so they are must haves as well (if you haven't played them in one of their other releases already). FFV was good for its class system. The story is nothing compared to IV or VI, but being able to customize as well as it's done in that game makes it fun. It's basically the customization and class system of FF Tactics in a classic RPG setting. FFI&II is good for nostalgia sake. FFI isn't bad. II is sort of odd with how you "level" your characters, but it did allow me to create some extremely powerful characters early on with some "grinding". Probably why Square/SquareEnix never used that system again.
