Does Wiiloaded ban by account or by IP address? I've been wondering this ever since we had the outbreak of spammers awhile back.

id guess IP.. because that one squirrel incident, didn't the guy have like a thousand accounts? he could have easily just made more and continue on with that crap...

Wiiloaded can do both. Account ban if you've been naughty (usually a temp ban). Or an IP ban if you've been DIABOLICAL. <_<

True and true. Usually temp bans for slip ups, although I always get enjoyment out of perma-banning ad spammers xD

what is considered a "slip-up" aka what do u do to deserve a temp ban?

It really is something pretty big, because people make mistakes a lot, but temp bans are for pretty serious things. Most of which 99.9% of the membership would never do.

Bans are most commonly given out to the people who advertise something in three separate threads and these are the first three posts they've made. In this case it's pretty obvious that they didn't plan on doing anything other than signing up to advertise another site or one of those "Get an iPod free" things.

The temp bans are usually in the form of a warn ban, but you'd need to keep up a certain level of assholiousness (isn't inventing words great?) to get warn consistently up to the point of warning ban.

I know that IP bans on MyBB are pretty iffy to do. A lot more manual work than you'd expect (not just a simple "IP Ban" button).

It's not MyBB's fault, it's all of the extra code I've added to the site. Picturebox doesn't support banning so if someone was spamming it I'd have do a manual IP ban.
