Activision announced today that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is currently in the works from Shaba Games and Treyarch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC. Although it wasn't ready to say too much about the action-adventure game, Activision did tell us that Web of Shadows will be set in a free-roaming, open-ended New York that combines web slinging with customizable superpowers. There will be the traditional combo attacks on the ground, but the game will also feature a brand new emphasis on vertical combat as gamers take Spidey to the skies and duke it out with bad guys.

Spider-Man's latest adventure will let players choose how they want to play -- if folks want to be the friendly neighborhood superhero, they can, but they can also ignore missions and be the anti-hero who is only looking out for himself. Marvel heroes and villains will pop up in the adventure, and gamers will have the ability to change sides as they see fit.

Sounds really promising! I like the fact that you can be anti-hero or hero. It sounds like what Spider-Man 3 should've been. Can't wait!

IGN: Activision Confirms Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
I don't know. I'm skeptical because the last few Spider-Man games have dropped the ball a little bit. Hopefully they keep the web slinging controls from the Wii version of SM3 in this one because that was the best part of the game.

And the whole anti-hero thing just sounds to me like SM vs. Venom like in SM3.
Well if they spend a lot of time on this, you know don't release it this year, then it could be good.
Uuuugh, enough of the Spider-man games already.
Are you kidding LMX? They'll never stop making Spider-Man games! It's a huge franchise. That's like asking Disney to stop milking their movies or George Lucas to stop milking star wars! It just won't happen.
No, I am being serious. I'm sick of them. But yes, I'm aware they won't stop milking them. Problem is, the bad games outweigh the good.
