You know AMD's Phenom range?

yeah, the ones that are a little worse than the C2D counterparts but hold a very slight price advantage?

Intel have just reduced the price of one of their Quad core processors by HALF
they've also reduced another 10 consumer processors (And some server counterparts) by up to 30%.

Everyone run out and get a new Q6700 for $266.

These price wars have been going on for a while. Intel is trying to run AMD out, and they are doing a very good job.
Bye bye AMD.
AMD's FSB (equivalent) is still pretty quick in comparison to an average Intel CPU, correct?

Exactly

If you were to pump Intel's FSB up that ridiculous level they'd be formidable. The fact that they need to run at such High speeds to only come close to Intel's chips shows how bad theirs are.

Yeah, AMD's clock rates are usually much lower.

Doesn't AMD use HTT(?) technology instead of FSB on their motherboards though?

There's a lot of TLAs in that sentence...
Yeah, it's basically a fast FSB with an on-die memory controller.

Intel's QuickPath is what you want to watch as an FSB replacement. When the nehalem hits, core 2 extremes are going to look slow in comparison.

So QuickPath is "quicker" than HTT?

R.I.P AMD?

This is the sort of encouragement I need to start upgrading...

*checks magical bank account... empty*

Well, yes, but that's not the point, it's the new design which makes it much better

Ah okay, thanks.
