i am new to the Wii and was wondering which way is better to shut the unit off..bu using the power button on the remote, or on the unit itself...Thanks

Well you can't make the system turn off WiiConnect24 by holding down the button on the Wii Remote. It only goes to stand-by with the Wii Remote (unless you have it off on the settings)
