Heh, it's funny because that controller was wired and used Accelerometers.
Where as the Wiimote is wireless and using more powerful accelerometers as well as optical sensing and is soon to use angular rate sensors.
So I guess the Wii remote being wireless and having "more powerful accelerometers" is suppose to mean that the Wii remote was an original idea. Next you'll tell me that the angular rate sensors is a Nintendo original too?
Everyone copies everyone and tries to make a product better. So we should probably get off our soap box and claim everyone is taking Nintendo's ideas, when in fact Nintendo is simply taking someone elses idea and using it too.
Well gft, i think the problem many people have is that they see it as blatant copying. Sure everyone steals someone's idea, it's not possible to have any original thoughts anymore. The human race has existed too long. But when you announce something and then your competitor scrapes their previous ideas just to add something you have. That's what gets to me. You can't deny that Sony tried to copy motion controlling off of Nintendo and failed miserably.

I believe E3 is normally in May, and if memory serves me, the "Boomerang" controller was also using similar or the same sixaxis tech.

No. Sixaxis was a last minute addition at E3 2006.
And if memory serves me right I think 2006 is the year after 2005 :3
Well it's not like the Sixaxis is a big part of PS3 gaming, hardly even.
But music to my ear indeed, I'm glad the gaming industry is at least stay 3/4 hardcore.
And if memory serves me right I think 2006 is the year after 2005 :3
Why don't you go back to playing your games on cartridges then, since the PS2 was the first to use DVD

But the 360 was the first to use HD-DVD, PS3 blu-ray, NES disk. Blah blah. New forms of imput come and go.
You might want to look up HD-DVD and Blu-ray, because even though they both put out HD, they're not the same, but nice try.

That's a response to what?
I said 360 used HD-DVD first and that PS3 used Blu-Ray first.

I don't see how that's relevant to Sixaxis coming out after the Wii Remote.
If you want to talk about technology pioneers, let's talk about Sega:
-They pushed 16-bit, when Nintendo was comfortable with the 8-bit NES.
-They pioneered CD technology.
-They pioneered post CD technology, before DVD was ready
-They did what Sony did wrong with the PS3 (Saturn was too complex), and created the Dreamcast following, which was not only the easiest platform of it's day to develop for, but also had more raw power than the PS2.
-They pioneered new controls (Fishing, motion sensing, VMUs).
-They created the larger ergonomic controller for more adult hands, which we see in the Xbox/Xbox 360 controller today, which is also widely regarded as possibly the best controller ever.
-They pioneered online play, even seeing forward to release a Broadband Adapter.
And now look, Sega struggle to make decent passable games.
And now look, Sega struggle to make decent passable games.
It's funny. Why can't they make games like they made in the past? Shenmue, Sonic Adventure (haven't made a good one since, SA2 was OK). Crazy Taxi, etc... Back when they made consoles, their games were kick ass. Even their sports games were forcing EA to play catch up.
Phantasy Star online, Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia, etc., etc. etc...
When you launch a system and your taking a loss from it's price, there's incentive to have games on the system that are high quality, thus making more people want to buy the system. Nintendo made ~$49 from every Wii console from day 1, and maybe that's why we've seen tons and tons of garbage games, because they don't need to make consistently good games, because they're already making money from the system.
totally bullshit, they were able to price the system profitably because of the R & D they did, they arent raping anyone with $600 system.
It's not fair to say the PS3 has tech that people don't want. When we were playing NES, we weren't thinking about CD. When we were playing PS1 games, we weren't thinking about DVD. For a company to progress the technology shouldn't be seen as a slight on the gamer, but actually progress. Nintendo has always done things a little different. It wasn't till last gen that they actually used DVD tech (proprietary), but they continue to leave out basics that everyone else has. So Nintendo sticks to it's guns, but in a way that actually hurts the gamers, by not giving them access to a HDD (yet) and not having basics like 5.1 Dolby Digital sound (which should be standard)
says you, also BS, not everone wants the things you do, actually 20 million + counting dont care about what you do,
In 2007 Sony had it's back against the wall, but 2008 has been very different. I'm glad that Sony isn't trying to tap everyone under the sun to make another cheap game that will outsell the games that are actually high quality. If you want to sit around on the weekends and play Wii sports with your grandma and grandpa, then feel free. That's something I'd rather not do.
missed the point entirely, im saying the d-bag from sony doesnt have a clue, and is just being inflammatory to try to spin his products failings
i completely dismiss the lies and vile that spews from his cancerous maw, thats all, besides that, its spot on
i wouldnt mind having a ps3 or a 360, there is room for all systems
these pricks just gotta take care of there own house and stop trying
to blow nintendos down, its silly
No drew, Nintendo was able to make ~$49 on the Wii at launch because it was so underpowered. There's nothing in the system that is revolutionary.
You have to admit that some people are buying the Wii simply because it's one of those products you can't just go and pick up. People want what they can't have.
If your saying Sony is failing because they don't make games for everyone, then I'd say your calling the kettle black. How many arguments are there on this site, because gamers are complaining that Nintendo has abandoned the gamer to release garbage that the casual gamer eats up, while leaving their long time fans in the dust. Sony has vastly improved since 2007 and now in 2008 is releasing amazing games and selling systems. Nintendo is still selling a lot of systems in 2008, but what do Wii owners have to look forward to game wise? Maybe 1 AAA game, released with 30 garbage titles?
I don't see anything wrong with Sony saying that they aren't going to make games for everyone on the planet. Plus I don't think I'm an asshole for saying that I don't want to play games with my parents or grandparents. If you want to do that then fine, but not everyone wants to.
Its good to see that Sony aren't bothering to try and match Nintendo. Because they'd just get their ass handed to them. And they know that, however that's not to say the Wii isn't revolutionary. It was certainly more revolutionary than the PS3 was,
How many AAA games do Sony have to look forward to? MGS4 has come and gone (Still an AAAA title though), what's next? LBP?
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Far Cry 2
Project Origin
Fallout 3
Fracture
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm
SOCOM: Confrontation
Tom Clancy's EndWar
LittleBigPlanet
BioShock
Eternal Sonata
Resistance 2
Mirror's Edge
Valkyria Chronicles
I would consider them to be AAA titles, and I don't believe any of those are coming out on the Wii. Why don't you list the AAA titles that will be released in 2008 on the Wii lm-x.
A fairly strong looking list, except SH5 is probably going to fail. Silent Hill 4 sucked as did Origins, but this happens when some crappy American team replaces the artists at Team Silent. A real disappointment as well, SH games used to be amazing. But I doubt we'll ever see the same level of brilliance from the new team.
As for the Wii's AAA titles this year, I don't even care. I was just wondering what AAA games they DID have coming up. And that list looks pretty good.

Okay there needs to be a line somewhere. This thread was originally about no 'senior citizen' gaming on the PS3, but somehow it's been reduced to a really pathetic argument about which console has the best games. GFT you're the moderator of this section and should be leading by example. Now lets get back on topic?
I'm glad Sony aren't trying to grab the granny audience, like lmx pointed out, they would get their ass handed on a plate.
Come on lm-x, you decided to get all scrappy about it, why not give me a list of the Wii titles you expect to be AAA.
I'm glad Sony aren't trying to grab the granny audience, like lmx pointed out, they would get their ass handed on a plate.
No Snake, it's the people who have been loyal to Nintendo for decades who got their ass handed to them, because Nintendo has purposely dismissed what they want in games.
edit, never mind replied and read wrong.
