I would consider them to be AAA titles, and I don't believe any of those are coming out on the Wii.  Why don't you list the AAA titles that will be released in 2008 on the Wii lm-x.

I think what you just listed are a bunch of "hardcore/good" titles. Only a few of those are actually AAA. Let's see... Bioshock, Fallout 3, and MAYBE Resistance 2 are AAA.

As for the granny thing...

Its good to see that Sony aren't bothering to try and match Nintendo. Because they'd just get their ass handed to them.

I'm glad Sony aren't trying to grab the granny audience, like lmx pointed out, they would get their ass handed on a plate.

They aren't going to win, so why try? If Suzie can't bake cookies like Sandy then she better bake a ****ing cake or gtfo.

I think everyone is right.  Nintendo has the casual market for this generation.  I think if Microsoft tries to get into it, they'll have big problems, because they are mainly marketed to guy (IMO).  I don't think it should be seen as a slite on Nintendo, when Sony basically says, we're not in the market to make games from Grandparents.  Some people might see that as a slap in the face making fun of Nintendo, but how many times have we seen Nintendo publicity that shows just that...grandparents playing on the Wii and loving it.

I am personally happy that there is 1 console who is trying to be everything to everyone.  I made the choice to sell my Wii, because I didn't agree with Nintendo's new way of looking at gaming and who they want to be their audience, but if you feel different, then I respect that.

No, Sony isn't going to do what so many people (including yourself) complain Nintendo is doing, and move most of their entire game library toward casual gamers. If that means Sony will fail, then at least they'll still be supporting their long time fans and not abandoning them to find millions of 50+ aged ones.

So you're saying if Sony absolutely knew they'd make billions off the casual audience they wouldn't shift their focus?
They'd stay true to their fans even if it meant failing?

Yes, I want games to play on the Wii, but do I make every effort to ***** about it? I don't. Quite frankly, I don't care what Nintendo does. If they make a good game, I'll buy it. It's as simple as that. Only fanboys come up with this "I've been betrayed" bull. If you like your PS3, play it. I don't care.
Interesting Ricky. I'd say long-time Nintendo fans have every reason to feel betrayed. Not just "fanboys", another generalisation by yourself.

The PS3's triple A titles are a port, an exclusive and 2 multi platforms.

If you're the type to not realize that it's time to stop crying about the bruise on your arm, suck it up, and move on, then I'd call you a fanboy 50 times over. The Wii was announced almost 2 years ago, please let it go. Long time Nintendo fans? Lol, times change. People change. Positions change inside of Nintendo. Nintendo 5-10 years ago isn't Nintendo today. People left, people replaced them. Are you sour because you bought a Wii? Sell it. I don't see what the big deal is honestly.

And please, stop focusing on semantics. When you do, you've already lost.

I personally don't care to see "Murder She Wrote" or "Matlock" games on the PS3 or on any Sony system, so I'm glad they're sticking to their guns on this one.

the murder mystery genre isnt only for old people. one of my favorite games is in that genre: eternal darkness.

i think youre taking the 'grandparents' quote a little too literal. theyre basically saying they are not going to make family oriented games. also, some of their best reviewed titles have been PSN games. most of those titles can be considered casual.

the problem i see and what MS recognizes is that the hardcore crowd is a fixed denomination. in order to get more people to play they need to draw in the younger and older audience with family-type games in hopes to possibly turn them to the more sophisticated games.

No drew, Nintendo was able to make ~$49 on the Wii at launch because it was so underpowered.  There's nothing in the system that is revolutionary.

and i think it sure is revolutionary...depends on what your definition of "is" is

some companies give away the razor to sell the blades and some dont, there is more than one way to sucess, there wasnt any price gouging if thats what you think, and it is long overdue to drop the wii th under 200 bucks but you cant blame them for leaving it alone as it continues to sell out everywhere

if ps3 were selling like the wii they would still be 600 bucks and you know that

You have to admit that some people are buying the Wii simply because it's one of those products you can't just go and pick up.  People want what they can't have.

yep, agree, nintendo is riding the wave of hype as well as having a solid system

If your saying Sony is failing because they don't make games for everyone, then I'd say your calling the kettle black.

didnt say that, sorry if i wasnt very clear...my arguments were it overpriced and tech no one wanted, i think its fine they only make hardcore games, i was taking the sony suit to task for his dismisive and wrong opinion that nintendo is 'just' marketing to seniors

i felt that was belittling and dismissive,

How many arguments are there on this site, because gamers are complaining that Nintendo has abandoned the gamer to release garbage that the casual gamer eats up, while leaving their long time fans in the dust.

too many to count and it gets tiresome

Sony has vastly improved since 2007 and now in 2008 is releasing amazing games and selling systems.  Nintendo is still selling a lot of systems in 2008, but what do Wii owners have to look forward to game wise?  Maybe 1 AAA game, released with 30 garbage titles?

yes, sony has some good stuff coming finally (you have to admit it has taken them a LONG time

and yes based on E3 nintendo looks a little thin but i would wager there will be plenty of pleasant surprises from nintendo by the holidays, there always is...

Quote:
I don't see anything wrong with Sony saying that they aren't going to make games for everyone on the planet.  Plus I don't think I'm an asshole for saying that I don't want to play games with my parents or grandparents.  If you want to do that then fine, but not everyone wants to.

i would never call you an asshole, d-bag maybe, but never asshole Smile

naruto is an honorable mention?! you and your list have lost all merit. it shouldnt even be on that list. that's like calling the latest dragon ball on the ps2 a triple-A title.

Naruto was an accident, the italics and underlines were the honerable mentions..not sure why I just said italics..

nintendo isnt moving their entire library to casual gaming, only small minded numbskulls, sony suits, and the brainless think that way.

thats just silly, they have released so many tentpole core franchises since launch (zelda, metroid, mario, ssbb, kart) and plenty of new stuff that will be...

maybe it seems 3rd party wii developers are leaning that direction, but so what, last time i check 3rd party shovelware is on all three systems

I'll bold all the rehashes.

I'm not sure how many games have been released for the Wii, but metacritic says at least 241 are in the market right now. So if your going to throw out 4 titles you consider to be for the core gamer, and I'm sure there's a couple good ones you missed, that's still supports the idea that by far, the Nintendo Wii library is casual casual casual.

semantics...nonsense...blather

The Nintendo games may be rehashes, but they are so much better than the original casual garbage. And also, even though Nintendo has released those four core titles... each one has a far less challenging feel to it. None of those games stumped me or kept me re-trying one part consistently. It was just a breeze all the way through them.

Explain to me why the Wii has so many more games than the 360/PS3 out now, but yet the attachment rates suck. Go on gamestop.com, and look at the coming soon/just released section of the Wii tab. Have fun sifting through all of the outright CRAP to get to even a select few games. lm-x, you're also right, the games have gotten to be less challenging than Nintendo has delivered in the past.

the attachment rate is a concern longterm, but my personal attachment rate is fine, i cant worry about those dang seniors pulling the average down
In my opinion, the Wii is still running on the hype and excitement that surrounded it at launch. I really believe that if Nintendo did not release a single game for the Wii in the last year, it would still have the ridiculous sales numbers it has enjoyed of late.

This is one of the stupider things I've read in a while. If you will recall, Nintendo received an ass-kicking from Sony in the last two generations of hardware far more epic than the one Sony is currently receiving from Nintendo. Yet look where Nintendo is now. The casual gaming craze will likely die a slow, painful death and suddenly Sony's philosophy of sticking to the hardcore crowd won't seem like such a bad idea.

If you were following the conversation, we were talking about people sticking their noses in the casual gaming market when Nintendo has it raped. My analogy even caters to that point. Please read carefully before you say dumb things. No one even mentioned Sony completely dropping out of the race.

You are the definition of a Nintendo fanboy, which is fine, but you refuse to see anyone else's views. Like I said, I'd love to see you go on gamestop's website, and see how many pages of crap you have to weed through in the Wii section.

It has substantially more games, but doesn't have substantially more, or even more, AAA games, what does that say?
