At E3 Microsoft revealed a new identity system known as avatars but the problem is people are saying that the idea is strikingly similar to Nintendo's Miis! Well John Schappert thinks they are just the natural development of the 360s online service, Live.
"It'd be remiss to say that we don't enjoy playing on the other systems and we have a lot of respect for the work that Miyamoto-san and Nintendo do," remarked Schappert, warming up for a "but," "but I think it's a logical extension of our Gamercard, Gamertag and Achievements."
It's an obvious kind of comment to publicly make as we obviously have no proof how much they were influenced but with Miyamoto feeling 'flattered' by the avatars we can't really see how Nintendo feel about all this after the whole Microsoft and Soft investing in future motion control devices...

Umm, that's not exactly denying it.
Microsoft probably wouldn't of used avatars if they didn't see what Nintendo did with the Miis, but at the end of the day, who cares? Avatars are nothing new, so if anyone says Microsoft are completely copying Nintendo then take a look at every other company that's used avatars before Nintendo.
I have to say that I prefer the look of the 360 avatars of the Miis. I thought Miis would be a huge part of the Wii and they are but it's amazing that they've never had any updates for it. I'm not getting into the who copied who thing but just saying that the 360 avatars do look better.
Anyone who is surprised by this is quite silly. Like Microsoft would come out and say "lol we copied Nintendo."
This is just the sort of statement to be expected either way. In the long run, who cares what M$ do. Nintendo and Sony don't.
^what he said and honestly, i like what Microsoft is doing is doing with their avatars. with Miis it just seems like another idea that has/had potential but Nintendo failed to capitalize on it.
It's like the PS3 pseudo-motion controls. They may have been in development before Nintendo released it, but it's pretty undeniable that they released it after the success of Nintendo's version.

So apparently they've been developing Avatars for 3 years?
