Each year the networks roll out a bunch of new television shows and each year most of them fail miserably.
In your opinion, which shows look like a hit and which ones might be a miss?
NBC's new additions:
My Own Worst Enemy
My Own Worst Enemy is about two men in one body. One is a father in the suburbs that drives a minivan. The other is is a secret operative of some sort. It's sort of like the Parent Trap except they're both the same person instead of twins. My Own Worst Enemy explores the question, "if you can't trust yourself then who can you trst?"
Kath & Kim
Kath & Kim is about two women that are complete opposites. Molly Shannon is a 40 year old divorce that is finally finding time for herself. Kim Day is her daughter and a self absorbed princess that has recently separated from her husband. It's a lot like My Own Worst Enemy except there is no cool operative stuff.
Knight Rider
Surely you already know what Knight Rider is about. It's about a talking car named KITT and NBC claims that KITT is "absolutely the coolest car ever created" and that makes me wonder when KITT turned into the General Lee.
SNL Thursday Night Live
Saturday Night Live is currently the worst it has ever been. I've got a great idea, let's put it on for a second night. Yay. Now if I could get more diseases and have less money then my life will be complete.
Crusoe
Crusoe is about the tale of the legendary Robinson Crusoe. Crusoe sets out on and adventure only to be shipwrecked on a remote tropical island for 28 years. It's like Gilligan's Island except no Mary Ann (or the Ginger if you prefer her.) Robinson Crusoe will face many challenges, like having to live with two last names.
The Philanthropist
After Teddy Rist's only child dies Teddy's life completely changes and he becomes a renegade billionaire that uses his wealth to help others. Teddy uses his connections and power to help people in need. NBC says that Teddy Rist is the first vigilante philanthropist but I think they're forgetting a little know guy called Robin Hood, except that Robin Hood's "connections and powers" are Maid Marian and a bow and arrow.
The Office Spinoff
The Office is from the same executive producer as the Office (which doesn't mean a whole lot). The "office spinoff" is about a completely new set of people in a completely new place with completely new situations. The Office spinoff is a much better idea than the SNL spinoff but I'm not sure if NBC knows what a spinoff is. How is it an Office spinoff without anything to do with the Office? If simply having the same executive producer makes a show a spinoff then I guess Heroes is a spinoff of Crossing Jordan and Lost is a spinoff of Felicity.
Merlin
Merlins is about the famous wizard of Camelot (obviously because nobody else would name their kid Merlin.) Merlin is about Merlin and Arthur on adventures before they became legends.
Kings
Kings is about a brave young soldier that rescues the king's son and eventually rises to prominene and becomes captain. If that isn't good enough then Kings promises a good David vs. Goliath story. Did they really have to name the character David for us to understand the David vs. Goliath aspect? I think we would've understood it fine without driving it home like that.
America's Toughest Jobs
In America's Toughest Jobs 12 contestants will compete by leaving the comfort of their own day job to take on some of the most dangerous and demanding jobs on earth. If they are really going to take on the toughest jobs in America then that can only mean two things: MMA Fighter or Mother of three kids. I'd rather face "Rampage" Jackson.
Shark Taggers
Shark Taggers is a reality series that will follow a group of marine biologist as they track down dangerous fish and tag them with satellite transmitter. Exhilarating! Seriously though, marine biologists are like the Aquaman of science world.
The Listener
The Listener is about a 24 year old that can read people's minds. He decides to use this gift for good and tries to solve crimes by working with the paramedics and reading victims minds. Come on. If using HGH is cheating in baseball then reading minds has to be cheating in crime solving.
Chopping Block
In this new cooking show (from the makers of that other cooking show) comes another cook that nobody knows from another country. Chopping Block is a reality show about people we don't know cooking stuff we probably wouldn't eat.104 QWERTY keyboard but you can roll it up and easily carry it with you.
