erm what looks promising, any trailers or news, or what.

there have been a few trailers and it looks true to the game.. even had one of Paynes dreams in it!

I've seen the trailer and I absolutely loved it! I was skeptical at first when I heard about this movie but it's looking pretty good. I'm still worried a bit about the rating though it they try to kiddie it down.

I remain skeptical. Hitman went went well, but I still went in with doubts. So I'll do the same for this.

This version was supposed to be rated R but it seems like they want to get the younger gamer audience in so they went PG 13, the director commmented in saying that, the DVD release will have a no holds barred version. reminicent of the game itself.
man. i want that dvd version.

Oh it's a movie, jeeeeezzz, why didn't you say so in the first place
09-26-2008, 12:59 PM
but it looks so much like the game!

Okay. I just saw the movie. And it sucked. It sucked out loud. There have been terrible films that are better than this. The entire team should be banned from the film business.
I mean seriously, it felt like a Uwe Boll film... only not.
And why was Max Payne so retarded? I mean... come on.
Argh. Awful.

there was some parts where it felt generic so i looked passed that and looked at the art direction and sound. which was top notch. the movie looked like the game, the script was directly from the game. but they were missing key elements that made the game a hit.

I would be lean more tempted to lean towards the DoP not knowing what he was doing. The whole movie was a mess of a film.

It wasn't the worst I've ever seen but it was kinda bad. The trailer showed so much promise. Even though I couldn't remember all of the game since I played it so long ago this movie still felt quite different and just didn't live up to the hype for me either.

idk the movie was damn near word for word of the game. looking at past game to movies, this was better then RE3.
it wsas almost true to the game ina whole. it just missed to really good points that made Max payne so damn awesome.

I enjoyed RE3 more than I enjoyed this garbage, heck I enjoyed Silent Hill more.
Max Payne was broken up by crappy choice of shots. I mean, close ups, wide shots, bullet time gun shots (which were ****), bullet time close ups, and argh. As a film-maker it made me angry to see.
The actors were garbage. I was sitting there picking the stars from TV shows, Heroes, Prison Break, Grey's Anatomy. And Mila Kunis was just a generally crap choice for the film. I couldn't take her seriously.
Spoiler: (hover to reveal the text)
At least RE3 was based only loosely on a game, hence why its screw up was more acceptable. Max Payne was pretty much going to be based on Max Payne, and they still screwed it up.
Don't me wrong, both of the films are pretty much equally bad.

Also, at the end when the guy was like "Don't you want to hear my reasons?" and Max Payne just shot him I was so happy. I like to believe that this was his smartest move in the film... because the entire film was dragged along by the crappy dialogue. Oh dear, it was just crap

They totally changed the ending part though for sure because I remember the tower falling on him.
@ LMX I happened to really like Silent Hill even though I've never played any of the games.

I heard of the movie before I even heard of the game. xD

ARGH! MADNESS!
Silent Hill was a shocking film. Not worthy of the game's name. Speaking of which I need to get a gamepad for my PC so I can finish SH2 on PC. Since I couldn't find a copy of SH2 on PS2 to play again, sigh.
Anyway, this movie is probably the worst video game movie incarnation... at least until Far Cry comes out.
