Remember a few weeks ago when a group of gamers (De ja vu for long time readers here) went out to beat Mario games in 42 hours? They hammered through them all (Including a 2 hour 70 star run of mario 64...and before that they done two. Yes Two! Zelda marathons which were for charity. Mainly for the Autism charity St Judes but they haven't stopped there...no, now they're back with a Metroid Marathons!

The Metroid marathon (For St Judes Cancer) it began at August 15th @ 6pm CST and they've been working hard and earned over $2,000 so far and they've got another 24 hours left to go!

The games they will be playing are (In order):

Metroid, Metroid Zero mission, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Metroid Prime1, Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Prime 3, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion.

And with each game they'll be giving away prizes ranging from clocks, posters and VC games. Just e-mail in and you'll have a chance, even I've won a prize. But for the people who have donated well they'll have a chance to win a signed copy of Metroid Prime 3. Signed by the developers of the game.

Like last time they'll be a variety of hosts and gamers, the gamers will play and hosts will talk to the watchers/read e-mails/eat caramel spoons and show off their awesome pants and hats.

They've beat all the games but with so much time left..they're doing repeats of some of the games on request of the people who donated to raise even more money! I can't stress enough how awesome this is and I would recommend you check it out right now!

Metroid charity ftw! Nearly as good as Smash Aid.
This rocks. Gaming for charity is awesome. We should do a WiiLoaded one.Big Grin
The guys beat the game with 30 hours left so now they're just going on requests on what to play.

But yeah, I won a prize xD

Also, thanks to smaky who got this up asap for me.
What prize did you win?

That's pretty good and for a good cause too.

that's awesome, i wonder if they'll do one for pokemon or donkey kong or something
Pokemon would be hard, even for speed-runs. Donkey Kong is possible though.
That's excellent, gaming for charity ftw. Seems like they've got some 1337 N1nj4 skillz.

About the requests, yes, Pokemon would be hard, random pokemon encounters, training, and the like would prove difficult. And with the amount of pokemon games, as well as the difficulty on some of them (Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 come to mind, with their uber cheap opponents), it would be hard to complete them within a specific time frame. Donkey Kong, however, is managable, as lm-x said.
yeah i know pokemon be impossible, just wishful thinking. i excited to see what else they do

Wario Land.

lmao, i'd really like to see a Pikmin, but that could prove difficult also
Pikmin would be over far too quickly due to their only being two games. Wario Land is possible but it wouldn't be very interesting. But that's because I'm not a fan of the Wario Land games beyond the first one.
Three games soon. We shouldn't take Pikmin out of the running just yet.

Wario Land is a possibility.

You know what would be another good one? Resident Evil. That would work well.

They're doing a horror marathon on Halloween, chances are RE will be involved.

That's cool. RE certainly fits the category of "Horror."
