Activision has announced that two new Tony Hawk games are currently in development which will bring some much needed innovation to the series. According to CEO Mike Griffith, "for competitive reasons we're not going to talk about it today but we're very bullish on the kind of innovation this will bring, and this won't be your father's Tony Hawk."

The first title is set to debut exclusively on the Nintendo DS this year and promises to bring 'new technologies not seen on the DS'. No word exactly on how they plan to deliver on these high stakes or even any screens or footage to back up these claims. I supposed we'll just have to take their word for it.

One question remains: competitive reasons? Who else makes skateboarding games besides Activision?

IGN: Activision Plans to Overhaul Tony Hawk

Two new TH games?

Too many TH games *

Lol the last one sucked hardcore nuts.
the only good ones were the first 3 for N64 and PS1
I haven't enjoyed a Tony Hawk game since Tony Hawk 3...
Oh sweet Jebus, I had hoped the Tony Hawk franchise was left for dead.
Looks like Skate is getting to them. :p

Goes to show that a little competition can go a long way. Plus, it's Activision... they have money and they need to use it.

That's what Guitar Hero is for.

I don't see Tony Hawk going much further. I don't know anyone who gets excited about the games anymore, and with everyone saying Skate was so much better, Tony Hawk should probably just stop.
