I see CPUs using wheelies and getting momentary boosts of speed.
I try to do a wheely and I get no boost. Anyone know why?
I use Automatic BTW.

I'm not sure why because I also use automatic and I get boosts from wheelies. It's especially helpful on straightaways.

Its hard to tell but you get like a 4 second boost. Try to look at a far away object when you do it and you can see you do slightly accelerate.

Yes, it's a slight increase in speed, though it doesn't SEEM like much, since you're the one performing the wheelie. When you look at someone while they're performing a wheelie, it looks like they zoomed ahead, because they went faster than what used to be their "normal" pace.

Also, automatic/manual has nothing to do with wheelies; they only affect drifting. (I posted in your other thread about that.)


Also, I use wheelies on straightaways, when I get a mushroom, and at the start, when I get the rocket-boost. (Meaning, I wheelie as soon as the race starts, or as soon as I use a mushroom.)
It's really helpful, and has become almost second-nature for me.
(I tried using a Kart again, and I found myself lifting the wheel involuntarily. d: )


It's also important to note that wheelies can be BAD; if you're in the middle of a wheelie and someone hits you, you lose balance for a second and slow down. I learned that lesson the hard way. Haha!

Not really. You think you are putting in more effort to steer/drift by using 1 extra button? Yeah right. If you actually had to change gears in manual mode, then I'd reconsider.

Automatic is fine for me, it's Mario Kart, not Gran Turismo.

Manual ftw!

It makes it easier to beat staff ghosts and CPU's alike.

Automatic handles like an amateur racing game with the game doing the turning for you, lol.
